Rebelde (album)
''Rebelde'' is the debut studio album by Mexican Latin pop vocal group RBD, released on November 30, 2004, in Mexico and on January 11, 2005, in the United States and the rest of Latin America. The album belongs to the pop and latin pop genres, with teen pop and pop rock stylings. The album was produced by Carlos Lara, Max di Carlo and Armando Ávila. A Brazilian Portuguese version of the album was also recorded and released on November 1, 2005. On March 2, 2006, a 'Diamond Edition' of the album was also released. In the United States the album topped the '' Billboard'' Latin Pop Albums chart, while reaching the runner-up slot in the main ''Billboard'' Top Latin Albums chart and selling over 400,000 copies in the country, attaining 4× platinum certification. The album reached the top spot in the music charts of Mexico, selling 550,000 copies there and gaining a diamond and gold certification by AMPROFON. Christopher Alexander Luis Casillas von Uckermann (born 21 October 1986) is a Mexican singer, songwriter and actor. He started his acting career when he was only two years old in TV commercials, and became known worldwide after his roles as Diego Bustamante in the soap opera ''Rebelde'' and Father Ramiro Ventura in the supernatural horror web series '' Diablero''. José Christian Chávez Garza (, born August 7, 1983), most often known as Christian Chávez is a Mexican singer, songwriter and actor, best known for his role as Giovanni Méndez López in the telenovela '' Rebelde'' and its spin-off pop group RBD. Alfonso Herrera Rodríguez (, born 28 August 1983) is a Mexican actor and former singer. Born in Mexico City, Herrera made his television debut in ''Clase 406'' in 2002. Telenovela
A telenovela is a type of a television serial drama or soap opera produced primarily in Latin America. The word combines ''tele'' (for "television") and ''novela'' (meaning "novel"). Similar drama genres around the world include '' teleserye'' (Philippines), '' téléroman'' (Canada, specifically Quebec), and ''sinetron'' (Indonesia). Commonly described using the American colloquialism Spanish soap opera, many telenovelas share some stylistic and thematic similarities to the soap opera familiar to the English-speaking world. The significant difference is their series run length; telenovelas tell one self-contained story, typically within the span of a year or less whereas soap operas tend to have intertwined storylines told during indefinite, continuing runs. Top Latin Albums is a record chart published by ''Billboard'' magazine and is labeled as the most important music chart for Spanish language, full-length albums in the American music market. Like all ''Billboard'' album charts, the chart is based on sales. Nielsen SoundScan compiles the sales data from merchants representing more than 90 percent of the U.S. music retail market.
