Rawang-Seremban Line
The Seremban Line ( ms, Laluan Seremban) or Seremban Komuter Line ( ms, Laluan Komuter Seremban) is one of the three KTM Komuter Central Sector lines provided by Keretapi Tanah Melayu. Its electric trains run between and , with some services terminating in . Prior to 15 December 2015, the northern terminus of this line was . KTM Komuter is an electrified commuter train service first introduced in 1995, catering especially to commuters in Kuala Lumpur and the surrounding suburban areas. It is a popular mode of transportation for commuters working in Kuala Lumpur, as they can travel to the city without the hassle of traffic congestion. Coaches are modern and air-conditioned. KTM Class 92
The Class 92 is a type of electric multiple unit operated by Keretapi Tanah Melayu on its KTM Komuter services. A total of 38 sets were built by CSR Zhuzhou of China, in 6-car formations. History The Class 92 was procured under a Malaysian Government initiative, National Key Result Area (NKRA) to reduce congestion and improve public transport with a specific RM2 billion allocation to KTMB to improve commuter rail efficiency. A sum of RM 1.894 billion was spent to procure these trains, with the remainder being spent on the improvement of signaling along the Putra-Mid Valley stretch and a ticketing system upgrade. The first EMU was delivered on 23 September 2011 and was expected to operate in revenue service by late December 2011. However, delays in testing led to the subsequent postponement of launch. Sultan Street Railway Station
Sultan Street railway station was a railway station located at the intersection of Jalan Sultan, Jalan Pudu and Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The station was opened in 1892 and was initially a through station on the line from (the later location of) Kuala Lumpur railway station to Ampang. The track from Kuala Lumpur ran through the middle of Foch Avenue (currently Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock), but this section was closed after some time. Now a terminus, Sultan Street station remained accessible from the main line via a junction at what is now Salak Selatan Komuter station. A new station building was constructed for the terminus station. The station's closure date is unknown, but it is still shown on the 1962 official Malayan topographical survey map. Side Platform
A side platform (also known as a marginal platform or a single-face platform) is a platform positioned to the side of one or more railway tracks or guideways at a railway station, tram stop, or transitway. A station having dual side platforms, one for each direction of travel, is the basic design used for double-track railway lines (as opposed to, for instance, the island platform where a single platform lies between the tracks). Island Platform
An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks. Batu Caves Komuter Station
Batu Caves Komuter station is a Malaysian commuter railway station formerly known as Batu Caves Railway station at Batu Caves, Gombak District, Selangor, Malaysia. After redevelopment, the station was reopened in August 2010. The station was from 2010 the northern terminus for the KTM Komuter's Batu Caves–Port Klang Route until December 2015 when the Seremban Line routing was changed to terminate at this station instead of Rawang. History The Batu Caves railway station was constructed on 1 November 1905. Over the years, the station fell into a poor condition through neglect and lack of use. Railway Electrification In Malaysia
Railway electrification in Malaysia is a relatively recent development of rail transport in Malaysia. While the first railway in the country dates back to 1885, it was not until 3 August 1995 that the first electrified railway service, KTM Komuter, began operations. The term "railway electrification" mainly refers to the project to electrify the Keretapi Tanah Melayu's West Coast Line from Padang Besar to Johor Bahru, combined with the duplication of the single-track line and the elimination of level crossings. As of November 2015, the stretch between Padang Besar and Gemas has been completed, with two electrified train services operating on the stretch: the KTM Komuter and the ETS. Rawang Railway Station
The Rawang railway station is a railway station in Rawang, Gombak District, Selangor, Malaysia that is served by the KTM Komuter (of the Port Klang Line since 2015) and the KTM ETS train services. It was the northernmost terminus for passenger services on the Rawang-Seremban Route since the start of the KTM Komuter service until 2015 when the trial route between Rawang and Port Klang began operating to cater to the KTM double track upgrading project. In 2016, the line Rawang-Port Klang Line was merged with the Rawang-Tanjung Malim shuttle service, thus ending Rawang's role as the northern terminus of the line.
