Ramdas Kamat
Ramdas Shantaram Kamat (18 February 1931 – 8 January 2022) was an Indian musician. He worked in Sangeet Natak, Marathi theatre. Early life As a child he took Hindustani classical music lessons from elder brother Upendra. Natya Sangeet studied under Pt. Govind Buwa Agni, Pt. Jitendra Abhisheki, Shri. Prabhakar Pendharkar, Shri. Bhalachandra Pendharkar, and Pt. Bhimsen Joshi. Bhava Geet Gayan studied under Yashwant Deo, Natak Saunstha, The Goa Hindu Association Mumbai, Gopinath Savkar's Kala Mandir, Mumbai Marathi Natya Sangha, Ranga Sharada, Bharat Natya Mandir Pune, Jayaram Shiledar's Marathi Rangabhoomi, and Mohan Wagh's Chandralekha. He acted under direction of Gopinath Savkar, Mo. Ga. Rangnekar, Master Dattaram, Nandkumar Raote, Bhalachandra Pendharkar & Madhukar Todarmal. Mapusa (म्हापशें) is a town in North Goa, India. It is situated 13 km north of the capital Panaji. The town is the headquarters of Bardez Taluka. Jayaram Shiledar
Jayaram Shiledar (1915–1992) was an actor and singer in Marathi films and on Marathi musical stage. Early life and family Jayaram Shildar was born in 1915 in the city of Belgaum, in the present day Indian state of Karnataka. He had three daughters with his first wife, who died in 1940s. In 1948, he fell in love with Pramila Jadhav, his leading lady on the musical stage. The two married in 1950. After marriage, Pramila adopted the name Jayamala Shiledar, who was a noted singer in her own right. The couple had two daughters, Lata (also known as Dipti Bhogle after her marriage) and the more famous younger daughter, Keerti. Both daughters had successful careers as actresses on Marathi stage. Keerti (1952-2022) presided over the 98th Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Natya Sammelan (All India Marathi drama convention). Sangeet Natak Akademi Award
Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (IPA: Saṅgīta Nāṭaka Akādamī Puraskāra), also known as the Akademi Puraskar, is an award given by the Sangeet Natak Akademi, India's National Academy of Music, Dance & Drama. It is the highest Indian recognition given to people in the field of performing arts. The award earlier in 2003, consisted of Rs. 50,000, a citation, an '' angavastram'' (a shawl), and a ''tamrapatra'' (a brass plaque). Since 2009 cash prize has been increased to ₹1,00,000. Sangeet Sharada
''Sangeet Sharada'' is an 1899 Marathi Sangeet Natak (Musical play), written and directed by playwright Govind Ballal Deval. The play is considered as the first play in Marathi to showcase the social problems and broke the norms by dealing with the subject of child marriage when dramatic literature in India mainly focused on historical-mythological narrations. Over the period of time, various stage actors like Bal Gandharva, Vishnupant Pagnis, Bhalchandra Pendharkar have performed the lead role of Sharada. Going with the format of Sangeet Natak, play had more than 50 songs, penned and composed by Govind Ballal Deval himself and music attained a cult status over the period of time. ''Loksatta'' (''Lōksattā'') is a Marathi daily newspaper in Maharashtra, India. It is published by The Indian Express Group and was launched on 14 January 1948. ''Loksatta'' is published out of Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Thane, Palghar, Ahmednagar, Amravati, Aurangabad and Nashik. Bhimsen Joshi
Pandit Bhimsen Gururaj Joshi BR (; ; 4 February 1922 – 24 January 2011), also known by the honorific prefix Pandit, was one of the greatest Indian vocalists from Karnataka, in the Hindustani classical tradition. He is known for the '' khayal'' form of singing, as well as for his popular renditions of devotional music ('' bhajans'' and '' abhangs''). Joshi belongs to the Kirana gharana tradition of Hindustani Classical Music. He is noted for his concerts, and between 1964 to 1982 Joshi toured Afghanistan, Italy, France, Canada and USA. He was the first musician from India whose concerts were advertised through posters in New York City. Joshi was instrumental in organising the Sawai Gandharva Music Festival annually, as homage to his guru, Sawai Gandharva.
