Rajshahi Metropolitan Police
Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) is a division of Bangladesh Police, which is responsible for law enforcement within the metropolis of Rajshahi. History Rajshahi Metropolitan Police was established on 1 July 1992. RMP began with four police stations-Boalia, Rajpara, Motihar and Shah Makhdum with an area of 203 square kilometers in 1992. RMP is headed by a Police Commissioner. In February 2018, eight new police stations were inaugurated and the area of RMP has expanded to a total of . In April 2017, assistant commissioner Sabbir Ahmed Sorfaraj committed suicide at an official police officers dorm under suspicious circumstances. Rajshahi Metropolitan Police launched a Quick Response Team in December 2018. In August 2019, Constable Sabbir Hossain was beaten by a mob after he got drunk and harassed a woman. Rapid Action Battalion
Rapid Action Battalion or RAB, is an anti-crime and anti-terrorism unit of the Bangladesh Police. This elite force consists of members of the Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Police, Bangladesh Navy, Bangladesh Air Force, Border Guard Bangladesh, Bangladesh Civil Service and Bangladesh Ansar. It was formed on 26 March 2004 as RAT (Rapid Action Team), and commenced operations on 14 April 2004. From 2004 to 2008 RAB had killed 1,062 people. Benazir Ahmed is a retired Bangladeshi police officer who served as 30th Inspector General of Bangladesh Police. Prior to join as IGP, he served as the Director General of Rapid Action Battalion from January 2015 to April 2020.
