Raffaele Marcoli
Raffaele Marcoli (27 March 1940 in Turbigo, Italy– 29 August 1966 in Feriolo, Italy) was an Italian professional road bicycle racer. He won 4 stages at the Giro d'Italia in 1963, 1964, 1965 and 1966. He also won the semi-classic race Coppa Bernocchi and Tirreno–Adriatico. He died with his girlfriend in a traffic collision accident on August 29, 1966, aged 26. Turbigo
Turbigo (Milanese: ) is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Milan in the Italian region Lombardy, located about west of Milan, along the Naviglio Grande canal. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 7,486 and an area of . Turbigo borders the following municipalities: Castano Primo, Cameri, Robecchetto con Induno, Galliate. It is the birthplace of naturalist Giuseppe Gené. Coppa Bernocchi
The Coppa Bernocchi is a European bicycle race held in Legnano, Italy. Since 2005, the race has been organised as a 1.1 event on the UCI Europe Tour. In 1919 the business magnate Antonio Bernocchi founded the Coppa Bernocchi (or Bernocchi Cup), with his brothers Andrea and Michele Bernocchi in Legnano, and give the executive organization of the race to the family friend Pino Cozzi, President of the "Unione Sportiva Legnanese", sports club which has since organized the cycling race, which used the prestige of the Bernocchi brand license, already known all over the world, to publicize the race that will become one of the most prestigious in Europe. Tirreno–Adriatico
Tirreno–Adriatico, nicknamed the "Race of the Two Seas", is an elite road cycling stage race in Italy, run between the Tyrrhenian and Adriatic coasts. Traditionally held in the early part of the season, it is considered to be an important preparation for the Giro d'Italia. It is part of the UCI World Tour, cycling's highest level of professional men's races. First held in 1966, the race was held over three stages. Since 2002 it is held over seven stages.
