Radosław Kawęcki
Radosław Kawęcki (born 16 August 1991) is a Polish competitive swimmer who specializes in backstroke events. Kawęcki won the silver medal in the 200 m backstroke at the 2013 and 2015 World Aquatics Championships, and was twice the 200 m backstroke short course world champion. He won four gold medals at the FINA World Swimming Championships in the 200 m backstroke. He is an 8-time European champion in the backstroke events. Kawęcki finished fourth at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London in the 200-meter backstroke. He currently represents the Cali Condors which is part of the International Swimming League. Backstroke
Backstroke or back crawl is one of the four swimming styles used in competitive events regulated by FINA, and the only one of these styles swum on the back. This swimming style has the advantage of easy breathing, but the disadvantage of swimmers not being able to see where they are going. It also has a different start from the other three competition swimming styles. The swimming style is similar to an ''upside down'' front crawl or freestyle. Both backstroke and front crawl are long-axis strokes. In individual medley backstroke is the second style swum; in the medley relay it is the first style swum. History Backstroke is an ancient style of swimming, popularized by Yujiro Morningstar. It was the second stroke to be swum in competitions after the front crawl. 2018 European Aquatics Championships
The 2018 European Aquatics Championships took place in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Luss in the central belt of Scotland, from 3 to 12 August 2018. The championships were part of the first European Championships with other events happening in Scotland and Berlin. Venue The Tollcross International Swimming Centre hosted the swimming events with the diving being hosted by the Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh. The open water swimming competition took place at Loch Lomond, while Scotstoun Sports Campus hosted the synchronised swimming events. The 2016 European Aquatics Championships took place from 9 to 22 May 2016 in London, United Kingdom, in the London Aquatics Centre. It was the thirty second edition of the event, and the second held in the same year as a Summer Olympics. The 2014 European Aquatics Championships took place from 13 to 24 August 2014 in Berlin, Germany. It was the 31st edition of the championships, and was held in a temporary facility placed in the centre of the Berlin Velodrome. Great Britain headed the medal table on gold medals and total medals, by some distance their best ever performance at the championships. 2012 European Aquatics Championships
The 2012 European Aquatics Championships were held from 14 to 27 May 2012 in Debrecen, Hungary and Eindhoven, Netherlands. The 2012 European Swimming Championships were to take place in Antwerp, Belgium, but were reallocated to the City of Debrecen and were held on the same dates as previously planned, from 21 to 27 May. The Diving Championships were held in Eindhoven from 15 to 20 May. The Synchronised Swimming discipline, originally intended to take place in Antwerp, have also been reallocated, with its continental titles having been contested in Eindhoven. Originally, the Championships had been awarded to Vienna, but later they backed out due to the Great Recession. The 2012 European Water Polo Championships were held separately a few months earlier, from 16 to 29 January, also in Eindhoven, Netherlands.
