Radio B92
RTV B92, or simply B92 (stylized as b92, formerly BΞ92 and B 92), is a Serbian news station and broadcaster with national coverage headquartered in Belgrade. Founded in 1989 as radio station, it was a rare outlet for Western news and information in FR Yugoslavia under Slobodan Milošević, and was a force behind many demonstrations that took place in Belgrade during the turbulent 1990s. It also played rock music. Due to this, RTV B92 won the MTV Free Your Mind award in 1998, and many other awards for journalism and fighting for human rights. RTV B92 is the subject of the best-selling book ''This is Serbia Calling''. On 6 October 2000, the day following the overthrow of Slobodan Milošević, television B92 started broadcasting. The BBC World Service is an international broadcaster owned and operated by the BBC, with funding from the British Government through the Foreign Secretary's office. It is the world's largest external broadcaster in terms of reception area, language selection and audience reach. ''Utisak nedelje'' ( sr-Cyrl, Утисак недеље; Impression of the Week) is a long-running Serbian political talk show hosted by Olja Bećković that airs live on TV channel Nova S. Airing live Sundays at 9pm and conceptualized as recap of the preceding week's events, the show mostly covers political topics with a panel of typically three guests. Depending on the topic covered in a given week, number of guests goes up to five or down to a single guest. Starting out on Studio B, a regional broadcaster for the city of Belgrade and its outlying area, in 1991 during the beginning stages of the dissolution of SFR Yugoslavia, ''Utisak nedelje'' bore witness to many of the geopolitical events affecting the area in the following decade, gaining high viewership and loyal following. Nacionalna Televizija Happy (often shortened to Happy) is a privately owned TV channel in Serbia. Happy has gained a strong reputation for its entertainment programming. The station offers a compilation of international and domestic movies, American sitcoms, dramas, Indian soap operas and Latin telenovelas, as well as locally produced talk/variety shows, sitcoms and reality shows. TV Avala (full legal name: TV Avala d.o.o., Serbian Cyrillic: ТВ Авала) was a Serbian television network with national frequency. Registered as a limited liability company, the station was given a national TV frequency in Serbia in April 2006. Five months after that, it premiered on September 17, 2006 at 8 pm. With its editorial policy, TV Avala initially reminded many of the old RTS's third channel (3K), which ceased operations on May 5, 2006 at twelve midnight. After using the conventional format of movies, news, and sports for its first four years on the air, the network made a substantial turn towards business news in March 2010. Prva (; sr-Cyrl, Прва) or Prva Srpska Televizija ( sr-Cyrl, Прва српска телевизија, lit=First Serbian Television), is a Serbian commercial television network with national coverage. Launched on 31 December 2006 at 7 pm as Fox Televizija, the network has from December 2009 until December 2018 been owned by the Greek media company Antenna Group. Svetlana Lukić (born December 14, 1958) is a Serbian journalist. She was born in Belgrade and received a degree in journalism from the Belgrade College of Political Sciences. Lukić hosted the radio show ''Niko kao ja'' on Radio Belgrade from 1987 to 1993; in 1990, she received an award from the Serbian Journalists Association for her work on this show. She was dismissed from Radio Belgrade in 1993 and joined Radio Brod, a project sponsored by the European Union, reporting on the war in the former Yugoslavia. Svetlana () is a common Orthodox Slavic feminine given name, deriving from the East and South Slavic root ''svet'' (), meaning "light", "shining", "luminescent", "pure", "blessed", or "holy", depending upon context similar if not the same as the word Shweta in Sanskrit.
