R71 (South Africa)
The R71 is a provincial route in Limpopo, South Africa that connects Polokwane with the Kruger National Park via the major towns of Tzaneen and Phalaborwa. The R71 is used daily by people who work or reside in Dalmada, Mothiba, Nobody, Moria, Mankweng, Turfloop and Boyne. The road is well known to touring bikers who frequently visit the province from all parts of the country, because of the scenic route through Magoebaskloof. Route The R71 begins at a junction with the R101 Route in Polokwane Central (capital of Limpopo), just east of the R101's intersection with the R37 Route. As the R101 leaves the east–west road and becomes the road northwards, the R71 begins by taking over the two one-way-streets (Grobler Street eastwards from the R101 and Thabo Mbeki Street westwards to the R101). The Zion Christian Church (ZCC) is one of the largest African-initiated churches operating across Southern Africa, and is part of the African Zionism movement. Groot Letaba River
The Groot Letaba River headwater streams originate in the Drakensberg Escarpment, descending in long runs with an occasional riffle or pool, mostly in the Limpopo province of South Africa. Tributaries At the higher level the Broederstroom River, Politsi River, Debengeni River, Letsitele River, and Thabina River, join the Groot Letaba. Lower down the Molototsi River (a seasonal stream) and Nsama River join before the Nsami Dam. Just before the Kruger National Park the Klein Letaba River flows into the river. From here the combined rivers are simply known as the Letaba River. Dams More than 20 major dams have been constructed in the Groot Letaba River catchment. The Tzaneen Dam on the Groot Letaba River and the Middle Letaba Dam are the two largest dams in the Limpopo Province. R36 (South Africa)
The R36 is a provincial route in South Africa that connects the N1 (between Louis Trichardt and Polokwane) with Ermelo, via Tzaneen and Lydenburg. It is co-signed with the N4 for 8 kilometres between Machadodorp and Patattanek, with a tollgate on this section. It used to extend further south past Ermelo to Amersfoort, but that section is now designated as part of the N11. Route Limpopo The R36 begins at a junction with the N1 National Route in Bandelierkop (just north of the N1's Capricorn Toll Plaza), 70 kilometres north of Polokwane and 35 kilometres south of Louis Trichardt. Magoebaskloof Pass
Magoebaskloof (Makgoba) Pass is situated in the Limpopo Province, on the R71, the road between Tzaneen and Polokwane, in South Africa. It is a lush green mountainous area, covered by natural evergreen subtropical forest. Ebenezer Dam
Ebenezer Dam is an earth-fill type dam on the Groot Letaba River, near Tzaneen, Limpopo, South Africa. The Broederstroom also flows into the dam. Haenertsburg is a village situated on the edge of the Great Escarpment in the Limpopo Province of South Africa, on the R71 road between Polokwane (formerly: ''Pietersburg'') and Tzaneen en route to the Kruger National Park. Farming and tourism are the main economic activities on "The Mountain" as it is fondly called by the locals; Haenertsburg is in hilly terrain. The Iron Crown mountain is the highest point in Limpopo and is a well-known landmark. Frequent mists and relatively high rainfall have created a lush vegetation with afromontane forest patches occupying the ''kloofs'' (gullies) which dot the rolling grasslands and surrounding mountains. The University of Limpopo is a university in the Limpopo Province, South Africa. It was formed on 1 January 2005, by the merger of the University of the North and the Medical University of South Africa (MEDUNSA). Polokwane Eastern Bypass
The Polokwane Ring Road, also known as The Polokwane Eastern Ring Road is a halfway ring road that circles the city of Polokwane, South Africa. It is part of the N1 National Route. Route The ring road was opened in late 2020 and cost an estimated R800 million. The ring road is fully formed by the N1 freeway. It begins at the N1 and R101 split (south-west of the city centre), and runs North East around Polokwane. It then crosses the R37, then the R71 and finally the R81. The R81 is a provincial route in Limpopo, South Africa that connects Polokwane with the R524 at Nyavani via Giyani. Route The R81 starts at a junction with the R71 Road in Polokwane (capital of the Limpopo Province), in the suburb of Fauna Park (just east of the town centre). It heads north-east as Munnik Avenue to form an interchange with the Polokwane Eastern Bypass ( N1 National Route) adjacent to the Mall of the North before exiting the city. From the N1 interchange, the R81 heads north-east for 71 kilometres to reach a junction with the R36 Road north-west of Modjadjiskloof. The R36 joins the R81 and they are one road eastwards for 1.5 kilometres before the R81 becomes its own road north-east.
