R59 (Free State)
The R59 is a provincial route in South Africa that connects Hertzogville with Alberton (south-east of Johannesburg) via Bothaville, Parys and Vereeniging. The R59 is a freeway from the R57 Junction in Sasolburg until the Alberton N12 Reading Interchange, signposted as the Sybrand van Niekerk Freeway. Route Free State The R59 begins at a t-junction with the R64 about 18 kilometres west of Dealesville. It heads north for 61 kilometres to the town of Hertzogville, where it meets the R708 at a t-junction next to the Palmietpan and they become co-signed northwards. North of the town, the R59 becomes its own road north-east, heading for 50 kilometres to Hoopstad where on the southerly outskirts, before the Vet River, it meets the northern terminus of the R700 at a t-junction and turns northwards. The R64 is a provincial route in South Africa that connects Kimberley with Bloemfontein via Boshof and Dealesville. It is slightly longer than the newer N8 route via Petrusburg, by about 10 kilometres. Route The R64 begins at an interchange with the N1 and the N8 national routes in Bloemfontein (Capital of the Free State), just west of the city centre. It begins by going north-west for 31 kilometres to cross the Modder River adjacent to the Krugersdrift Dam. It continues north-west for another 30 kilometres, exiting the Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality, to meet the western terminus of the R703 Road and enter the town of Dealesville. The R53 is a provincial route in South Africa that connects Swartruggens with Parys via Ventersdorp and Potchefstroom. Route The R53 begins in Swartruggens, North West province, at a junction with the N4 National Route (Platinum Highway). It begins by going southwards for 45 kilometres to reach a junction with the R52 Road, which goes to Koster in the east and Lichtenburg in the west. Route It begins at a junction with the N12 National Route in Gauteng province (south-west of Westonaria), just west of the N12's intersection with the R28. Vals River
The Vals River ( af, Valsrivier) is a tributary of the Vaal River in the Free State, South Africa. It is a strong seasonal river. This river of the Middle Vaal System is a good place for fishing, especially the local Largemouth Yellowfish. Course The river source is about 20 km southeast of Paul Roux and about 25 km southeast of Bethlehem. It flows under the N5 road shortly after its source. In its upper course the Vals River flows roughly northwards, bending northwestwards across the highveld towards Lindley and meandering across the plain. In its middle course there are a number of weirs as it flows mostly through areas of dryland crops and its waters are used for irrigation. The R30 is a provincial route in South Africa that connects Bloemfontein with Rustenburg via Brandfort, Welkom, Bothaville, Klerksdorp and Ventersdorp. The R34 is a long provincial route in South Africa that connects Vryburg with Richards Bay via Kroonstad and Newcastle. It passes through three provinces, North West, the Free State and KwaZulu-Natal. Route North West The R34 begins a few kilometres east of the town of Vryburg, North West at a t-junction with the N14 National Route, which is the main road into the town.
