Kermit Ruffins
Kermit Ruffins (born December 19, 1964) is an American jazz trumpeter, singer, composer, and actor from New Orleans. He has been influenced by Louis Armstrong and Louis Jordan and says that the highest note he can hit on trumpet is a high C. He often accompanies his songs with his own vocals. Most of his bands perform New Orleans jazz standards though he also composes many of his own pieces. Jon Pareles of ''The New York Times'' wrote, "Mr. Ruffins is an unabashed entertainer who plays trumpet with a bright, silvery tone, sings with off-the-cuff charm and never gets too abstruse in his material." Early life He started playing trumpet in 8th grade at Lawless Junior High School in the Ninth Ward of New Orleans. He attended Joseph S. Moqut Ruffins
Moqut Ruffins (April 6, 1984 – August 16, 2022) was an American football offensive lineman. He played college football at Louisiana Tech University. He has also been a member of the Lakeland Thunderbolts, Laredo Lobos, Lubbock Renegades, Bossier–Shreveport Battle Wings, New Orleans VooDoo, Pittsburgh Power, San Antonio Talons and Washington Valor. Early years Ruffins was born in Monterey, California. He played high school football at Middletown High School South in Middletown Township, New Jersey and helped the team win Central Jersey Group 3 titles in 2000 and 2001. College career Ruffins played for the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs from 2002 to 2005. He accumulated career totals of 79 tackles, nine tackles for a loss and three sacks. He earned First Team All- WAC honors his senior season in 2005 after recording 38 tackles, seven tackles for a loss, three sacks and two forced fumbles. Reynold Ruffins
Reynold Dash Ruffins (August 5, 1930– July 11, 2021) was an American painter, illustrator, and graphic designer. With Milton Glaser, Edward Sorel, and Seymour Chwast, Ruffins founded Push Pin Studios in 1954. An illustrator of more than twenty children's books, Ruffins is known for his "stylistic versatility, vibrant colors, and penchant for fanciful creatures."Zipes, Jack. He has had many solo exhibitions and been part of group show exhibitions at Paris' Musée du Louvre, and in Milan, Bologna, and Tokyo.
