Rosemary Radford Ruether
Rosemary Radford Ruether (1936–2022) was an American feminist scholar and Roman Catholic theologian known for her significant contributions to the fields of feminist theology and ecofeminist theology. Her teaching and her writings helped establish these areas of theology as distinct fields of study; she is recognized as one of the first scholars to bring women's perspectives on Christian theology into mainstream academic discourse. She was active in the civil rights movement in the 1960s, and her own work was influenced by liberation and black theologies. She taught at Howard University for ten years, and later at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. Over the course of her career, she wrote on a wide range of topics, including antisemitism and the Israeli–Palestinian conflict. Dutch Ruether
Walter Henry Ruether (September 29, 1893 – May 16, 1970) was an American baseball player who pitched for five different major league teams. In his 11-year career, Ruether played for the Chicago Cubs, the Cincinnati Reds, the Brooklyn Robins, the Washington Senators, and the New York Yankees. He appeared in the 1919 World Series with the Reds, in the 1925 World Series with the Senators, and in the 1926 World Series with the Yankees. Ruether was also a member of the 1927 Yankees. Though that team played in the 1927 World Series, Ruether did not participate in any of the games. Early life Ruether attended St. Ignatius College. On March 10, 1913, St. Ignatius participated in an exhibition game against the Chicago White Sox. Ruether, a left-hander, pitched in the game for St. Ignatius. Mike Ruether
Michael Allen Ruether (September 20, 1962 - December 29, 2021) was a professional and college offensive lineman and tight end. In college he was an All-Southwest Conference and first-team All-American selection as a lineman. During his 10-year professional football career he played most of his career was with the Atlanta Falcons in the NFL and went to Super Bowl XXIV with the Denver Broncos. He also played for the Los Angeles Express and the St. Louis Cardinals and spent a year with the Minnesota Vikings. College career Ruether played college football at the University of Texas from 1980 to 1983. In 1983 he was an All-Southwest Conference, and 1st team All-American selection on a team that won the conference championship and went into the Cotton Bowl undefeated and ranked #2. He also played for the 1981 team that spent a week ranked #1 and finished the season ranked #2 after upsetting Alabama in the Cotton Bowl Classic.
