Ruby Storm
Ruby Storm (born 18 November 2003) is an Australian Paralympic swimmer with an intellectual disability. She represented Australia at the 2019 World Para Swimming Championships, winning a bronze medal, and at the 2020 Summer Paralympics, 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, she won a silver and bronze medal. Personal Storm was born on 18 November 2003 and grew up in Traralgon, Victoria. She has indigenous heritage. Swimming career As a child Storm was scared of the water but she learnt to swim by observing her older sister. She is classified as an S14 (classification), S14 swimmer. She smashed records at the 2018 Para Pan Pac trials in winning the 200m freestyle event. At the 2019 World Para Swimming Championships, London, she was a member of the Australian team that won the bronze medal in the Mixed 4 × 100 m Freestyle Relay S14. Paralympic Swimming
Para swimming is an adaptation of the sport of swimming (sport), swimming for athletes with disability, disabilities. Para swimmers compete at the Swimming at the Summer Paralympics, Summer Paralympic Games and at other sports competitions throughout the world. The sport is governed by the International Paralympic Committee. Both men and women compete in para swimming, racing against competitors of their own gender. Swimming has been a part of the Paralympic program since the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome, Italy. Paige Leonhardt
Paige Leonhardt (born 21 September 2000) is an Australian swimmer. She represented Australia at the 2016 Rio Paralympics and the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, where she won a silver medal. Personal life Leonhardt was born on 21 September 2000. At the age of five she was involved in a car accident that left her with severe injuries. She spent four years recovering. The accident left her with hemiplegia cerebral palsy on her right side as well as intercranial hypertension, epilepsy and autism. The intercranial hypertension means that she regularly needs to have excess fluid on the brain removed via a spinal tap. The calcium build-up behind her eyes causes drusen which will one day lead to a loss of eyesight. She now lives in Mount Cotton, Queensland, previously lived in Port Macquarie which is also the home of wheelchair rugby gold medallist Ryley Batt who is her idol.
