Selkirk Mountains
The Selkirk Mountains are a mountain range spanning the northern portion of the Idaho Panhandle, eastern Washington, and southeastern British Columbia which are part of a larger grouping of mountains, the Columbia Mountains. They begin at Mica Peak and Krell Hill near Spokane and extend approximately 320 km north (200 miles) from the border to Kinbasket Lake, at the now-deserted location of the onetime fur company post, Boat Encampment. The range is bounded on its west, northeast and at its northern extremity by the Columbia River, or the reservoir lakes now filling most of that river's course. From the Columbia's confluence with the Beaver River, they are bounded on their east by the ''Purcell Trench'', which contains the Beaver River, Duncan River, Duncan Lake, Kootenay Lake and the Kootenay River. The Columbia Mountains are a group of mountain ranges along the Upper Columbia River in British Columbia, Montana, Idaho and Washington (state), Washington. The mountain range covers 135,952 km² (52,491 sq mi). The range is bounded by the Rocky Mountain Trench on the east, and the Kootenay River, Kootenai River on the south; their western boundary is the edge of the Interior Plateau. Slocan Lake
Slocan Lake is a lake in the Slocan Valley of the West Kootenay region of the Southeastern Interior of British Columbia, Canada. With an area of it has a maximum depth of . It is fed by Bonanza Creek and drained by the Slocan River. In 1947, a Canadian Pacific locomotive was lost in the lake when a barge on which it was being carried sank. The locomotive was located in 2020. The largest community on the lake is a village known as Slocan City. Description The lake is drained by the Slocan River, which flows south from the lake's foot at Slocan City through the Slocan Valley to South Slocan, British Columbia, where that river meets the Kootenay River a few kilometres above its confluence with the Columbia.
