Royal Challengers Bengaluru, formerly known as Royal Challengers Bangalore, commonly known as RCB, is an Indian professional franchise cricket team based in Bengaluru, Karnataka that competes in the Women's Premier League. It is owned by United Spirits, which also owns the men's team. The team is coached by Luke Williams and captained by Smriti Mandhana. RCB won the 2024 season, bringing the first trophy for the franchise. It is also the most popular and followed cricket franchise on Instagram with more than 21 million followers. The Women's Premier League (WPL) is a professional women's Twenty20 (T20) cricket league in India, organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Founded in 2022, it features five city-based franchise teams. The WPL is one of the most successful cricket leagues in the world. The first season in 2023, saw the Mumbai Indians winning the inaugural title. Matches took place in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, with 5 franchises participating. The 2023 Women's Premier League, (also known as WPL 2023 and branded as TATA WPL 2023) was the inaugural season of the Women's Premier League, a women's franchise Twenty20 cricket league organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The tournament featured five teams and was held from 4 March to 26 March 2023. In the final, Mumbai Indians defeated Delhi Capitals to win the competition.
