Rosfjord
The Rosfjord or Rosfjorden is a fjord in Lyngdal municipality in Agder county, Norway. The long fjord runs from the town of Lyngdal to the North Sea in the south. The Austad peninsula lies on the east side of the fjord, with the village of Austad near the shoreline. The area surrounding the fjord was once part of the municipality of Austad from 1909 until its dissolution in 1963. The northern end of the fjord is the location of the ''Agnefest'' harbour, a deep water harbour which dates back to at least 1771. Because of the high salinity of the water, the fjord rarely freezes, making it a suitable harbour. Rosfjord Beach, a popular sandy beach in the summer, is also located at the northern end of the fjord. There is both a campsite and a hotel near the beach. Commercial camping on the site goes back to 1934. In the 1970s several cottages were built, and the hotel—Rosfjord Strandhotell—dates from 1986. is a List of municipalities of Norway, municipality in Agder county, Norway. It is located in the Traditional districts of Norway, traditional district of Lister Region, Lister. Lyngdal (town)
Alleen or Lyngdal is a List of towns and cities in Norway, town which is the administrative centre of the municipality of Lyngdal in Agder county, Norway. It lies along the east side of the river Lygna, just north of the head of the Rosfjorden and northeast of the head of the Lyngdalsfjorden. The small villages of Skomrak and Svenevik both lie just south of the town, and the small farming area of Hæåk lies about to the northwest. On 1 January 2001, the municipal government declared the urban area of Alleen to be a town called ''Lyngdal''. Both names are used to refer to the urban area. Austad is a village in Lyngdal municipality in Agder county, Norway. The village is located in the southern part of Lyngdal, about south of the town of Lyngdal and the village of Korshamn. The village is on the eastern shore of the Rosfjorden. The Austad Church is located in the center of the village. The village was the administrative centre of the old municipality of Austad which existed from 1909 until 1963. Austad (municipality)
Austad is a former municipality of the former Vest-Agder county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1909 until its dissolution in 1963. The municipality encompassed the area surrounding the Rosfjorden in the southern, coastal part of the present-day municipality of Lyngdal. The administrative centre of the municipality was the village of Austad where Austad Church is located. History Austad municipality was created on 1 January 1909 when the old municipality of Lyngdal was divided into three separate municipalities: Lyngdal, Austad, and Kvås. Upon its creation, Austad had a population of 1,263. Agder
Agder is a counties of Norway, county () and districts of Norway, traditional region in the southern part of Norway and is coextensive with the Southern Norway region. Fjord
In physical geography, a fjord (also spelled fiord in New Zealand English; ) is a long, narrow sea inlet with steep sides or cliffs, created by a glacier. Fjords exist on the coasts of Antarctica, the Arctic, and surrounding landmasses of the northern and southern hemispheres. A beach is a landform alongside a body of water which consists of loose particles. The particles composing a beach are typically made from rock, such as sand, gravel, shingle, pebbles, etc., or biological sources, such as mollusc shells or coralline algae.
