August Johann Rösel von Rosenhof (March 30, 1705 in Augustenburg, Germany, Augustenburg near Arnstadt – March 27, 1759 in Nuremberg) was a German Miniature (illuminated manuscript), miniature painter, natural history, naturalist and entomologist. With his accurate, heavily detailed images of insects he was recognised as an important figure in modern entomology. Life Descendant of a "noble family of Austria", Rösel was born August Johannes Rösel. This was modified in 1753, undoubtedly in the honour of his uncle, the animal painter Wilhelm Rösel von Rosenhof. Rösel’s father died when he was very young and it was his uncle who gave him an artistic education after his godmother, the princess Augusta Dorothea of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, Augusta Dorothea von Arnstadt-Schwarzburg, had detected his talent. Peter Rösel (born February 2, 1945, in Dresden) is a German concert pianist. Appearances Rösel has appeared for years at international festivals (Salzburg, Edinburgh, London Proms, Perth, Hollywood Bowl, Hong Kong) and with many major orchestras, such as Los Angeles Philharmonic and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Detroit Symphony Orchestra and Berlin Philharmonic. He has performed with renowned conductors, Rudolf Kempe, Horst Stein, Yuri Temirkanov, Tennstedt and Vonk. Rosel George Brown (March 15, 1926 – November 26, 1967) was an American science fiction author. Biography Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, she lived in the city of her birth with her husband after concluding her formal education at Sophie Newcomb College, where she majored in ancient Greek (language), Greek, and at the University of Minnesota where she received her M.A. in Greek. Several of her books were dedicated to her husband W. Burlie Brown, who was a history professor at Tulane University. The couple had two children, a son born in 1954 and a daughter born in 1959. In addition to writing, she worked as a teacher and a welfare visitor in Louisiana. In 1959, she was nominated for the Hugo Award for best new author.
