Ronald Rose
Ronald Morris Rose (September 4, 1944 – October 24, 2019) was an American poker player from Dayton, Ohio, and a two time World Poker Tour (WPT) Champion with a World Series of Poker bracelet. Early life and career Rose was born in Vancouver, Washington. Prior to getting involved in the poker tournament circuit, Rose was a mathematician and project engineer in the Air Force. He was honorably discharged as a Captain in 1975, and later became an entrepreneur. He also held a seat on the American Stock Exchange and owned his own commodities firm. Poker World Series of Poker Rose, who has been playing poker since the age of six, first finished in the money of a World Series of Poker (WSOP) event in 2001 in the $1,500 pot limit omaha event. The 2006 World Series of Poker (WSOP) began on June 25, 2006, with satellite events, with regular play commencing on June 26 with the annual Casino Employee event and the World Series of Poker Tournament of Champions, Tournament of Champions held on June 28 and 29. The 2003 World Series of Poker (WSOP) was a poker tournament held at Binion's Horseshoe. The tournament is seen as a turning point in the history of competitive poker, as amateur Chris Moneymaker's victory in the main event despite no prior tournament experience was widely regarded as bringing with it a surge in public interest and popularity in the game, known as the Moneymaker effect, or the Poker boom. The Professional Poker Tour (PPT) was a series of televised poker tournaments, spinning off from the World Poker Tour (WPT) television series. It billed itself as the first professional poker league, and was limited to players who have established themselves on the World Poker Tour, World Series of Poker, or major participation on the poker circuit. Matt Corboy was the lead commentator, with poker pro Mark Seif as color commentator and Kaye Han as floor reporter. Gus Hansen
Gustav Hansen (born 13 February 1974) is a Danish professional poker player from Copenhagen, Denmark who has lived in Monaco since 2003. In his poker career, Hansen has won three World Poker Tour open titles, one WSOP bracelet and the 2007 Aussie Millions main event, and was the season one winner of the Poker Superstars Invitational Tournament. Before turning to playing poker professionally in 1997, Hansen was already a world class backgammon player and a youth tennis champion. Howard Lederer
Howard Henry Lederer (born October 30, 1964) is an American professional poker player. He has won two World Series of Poker bracelets and holds two World Poker Tour titles. Lederer has also contributed to several books on poker strategy and has provided commentary for poker programming. He is known by poker fans and players as "The Professor" and is the older brother of professional poker player Annie Duke. Lederer is a founder and board member of Tiltware, the company that launched Full Tilt Poker in 2004. In 2011, the Full Tilt Poker website was shut down by the United States Department of Justice on charges of bank fraud and illegal gambling. Paul Magriel
Paul David Magriel Jr. (pronounced Ma-grill) (July 1, 1946 – March 5, 2018) was an American professional backgammon player, poker player, and author based in Las Vegas, Nevada. Magriel became New York State Junior Chess Champion (January 1967) at the age of 20, while a student at New York University. Backgammon Known as X-22 on the backgammon circuit, Magriel arguably won more major backgammon tournaments than any other player in the world. He was widely considered the world's premier backgammon teacher, an original and clear-thinking theorist and one of its best players. The sobriquet X-22 originates from Magriel's simulation of a real backgammon tournament (compare simultaneous exhibition in chess) with 64 boards, designated X-1 through X-64, in which the player designated "X-22" has eventually won.
