Per Bergsland
Sgt Per Bergsland (17 January 1918 – 9 June 1992) was a Norwegians, Norwegian fighter pilot and POW in the Nazi Germany, German POW camp Stalag Luft III and one of only three men to escape to freedom in the "Stalag Luft III#The great escape, Great Escape". Sports career During the 1930s Bergsland competed in orienteering, representing the club IL Heming. In 1939 he placed second at the individual Norwegian championship in orienteering held at Modum. He was born in Bærum, but resided at Ullernåsen, Oslo. World War II Per Bergsland received training as a pilot in Canada. He transferred to the RAF in 1942, where he was assigned to fly with a combat unit. As a member of No. 332 Squadron RAF stationed at North Weald airfield, Bergsland's Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Vb, (serial no AB269, coded AH:D) was shot down by a German Focke-Wulf Fw 190 during the Dieppe Raid on 19 August 1942. Rockland Township is a civil township of Ontonagon County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 226 at the 2020 census. Rockland is the home of Virginia's Rust family, near Leesburg, Virginia. The property housed slaves to work their farm. The property was acquired by General George Rust from the heirs of Colonel Burgess Ball in 1817. General Rust built the present brick residence about 1822, incorporating an older frame house as a rear service wing. General Rust was involved in the Baltimore area during the War of 1812 and was a member of the Virginia House of Delegates in 1818-1819 and 1820–1823. The 1850 U.S. Federal Census - Slave Schedules lists 33 slaves as being owned by George Rust of Loudon County. Rockland Mansion
The Rockland Mansion is a -story, Federal-style mansion that is located in east Fairmount Park, Philadelphia, overlooking the Schuylkill River. History and architectural features The land was bought by a Philadelphia merchant named George Thomson in 1809. The mansion was completed circa 1810 using rubble stone for the masonry work which was then finished with stucco scored to resemble cut stone. Thomson used the house as a summer residence for about five years and then sold it to another merchant named Isaac Jones in 1815 whose son sold it to the city in 1870. The house and original plot of of land are situated adjacent to the Mount Pleasant Mansion along Mount Pleasant Drive. Beginning in 2002, the Psychoanalytic Center of Philadelphia (PCoP) entered into a long-term lease arrangement with the city, via the Fairmount Park Conservancy's Historic Preservation Trust. The Rockland Psychiatric Center, originally Rockland State Hospital, in Orangeburg, New York, is a psychiatric facility for adults operated by the New York State Office of Mental Health. It offers in-patient and transitional treatment for adults, as well as research facilities. There are 13 outpatient facilities and 11 residential programs in the four surrounding counties. The facility shares space with the co-located Nathan Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research, Nathan Kline Institute. The inpatient treatment center has 410 beds. Palisades, formerly known as Sneden's Landing (pronounced SNEE-dens), is a hamlet in the town of Orangetown in Rockland County, New York, United States. The area referred to as Snedens Landing is located within the eastern portion of Palisades. The hamlet has a registered historic district known as the Closter Road–Oak Tree Road Historic District.
