Robotrek
''Robotrek'', known in Japan as , is a role-playing video game (RPG) for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). It was developed by Quintet (company), Quintet and published by Enix in both Japan and North America in 1994. Set on the fictional planet Quintenix, the game puts the player in control of a budding robotics expert who is the son of a famous inventor. As its Japanese name implies, ''Robotrek'' was intended as a humorous game. Designed to appeal to a younger audience, ''Robotreks main focus is on allowing the player to raise up to three robots which are built from spare parts that may be found, gained through battles, or generated by the player by means of the game's item combination system. ''Robotrek'' sold poorly and was given mostly average reviews upon its release. The game's combination of traditional RPG mechanics with the ability to build customizable robots and invent items was positively received. Quintet (company)
was a Japanese video game developer founded in April 1989. The company name is derived from musical terminology, representing the five elements of game design: planning, graphics, sound, programming, and production. Quintet was most active during the 1990s, maintaining a strong relationship with Enix (now part of Square Enix). It was also a member of the GD-NET group of Sega Saturn developers. Quintet has not been active since the 2000s and is presumed to be defunct. Company overview The director and president of Quintet is Tomoyoshi Miyazaki, the scenario writer for the first three entries of Nihon Falcom's ''Ys (series), Ys'' series. Masaya Hashimoto, who served as the main director, designer, and programmer for the same early ''Ys'' titles, also joined Quintet alongside Miyazaki. Robopon Sun, Star, And Moon Versions
''Robopon Sun, Star and Moon Versions'' are handheld role-playing video games for Nintendo's Game Boy Color. Of the three games, only ''Sun'' was released in North America in December 2000 by Atlus, while their original Japan releases were by Hudson Soft. The games focus on a boy, named Cody by default, and his adventures on his island with his robotic friends. They mostly resemble the ''Pokémon'' series of video games, but also bear similarities to the Super Nintendo Entertainment System game ''Robotrek'', published by Enix (now Square Enix). Story Within ''Robopon'' Sun, Star, and Moon versions, the player assumes the role of a child named Cody, whose grandpa is retiring and gives him the family business, a Robopon dispatching company. Cody travels around Porombo Island collecting Robopon and battling against the "Legend 7", the top-ranked Robopon collectors on the island. Each time Cody successfully beats one of the Legend 7, he takes his or her place in the ranking system. ...
