Roberto Janet
Roberto Janet Durruty (born 29 August 1986) is a Cuban track and field athlete who competes in the hammer throw. He has a personal best of 78.02 metres, set in 2015. He is a two-time champion at the Central American and Caribbean Championships in Athletics and the Ibero-American Championships in Athletics. He represented Cuba at the 2011 Pan American Games and the 2012 Summer Olympics, as well as the 2013 World Championships in Athletics, 2013 and 2015 World Championships in Athletics, 2015 Athletics World Championships. Life and career Born in Santiago de Cuba Province, Janet began competing internationally in 2005 and was runner-up to Boldizsar Kocsor at the 2005 Pan American Junior Athletics Championships. Cuba competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, from 27 July to 12 August 2012. This was the nation's nineteenth appearance in the Olympics. With baseball's removal from the Olympic program and the absence of the nation's volleyball team for the first time, the Cuban Olympic Committee sent the nation's smallest delegation to the Games since 1964. A total of 111 athletes, 66 men and 45 women, competed in 13 sports. There was only a single competitor in archery and table tennis. The Cuban team featured two defending Olympic champions: sprint hurdler Dayron Robles and Greco-Roman wrestler Mijaín López, who reprised his role as the nation's flag bearer at the opening ceremony. 2010 IAAF Continental Cup
The 1st IAAF Continental Cup was an international track and field sporting event held under the auspices of the International Association of Athletics Federations. Originally scheduled as the 11th IAAF World Cup in Athletics, it was renamed in 2008 when the IAAF revamped the competition format. It was held in Split, Croatia on 4–5 September 2010. The competition mascot was an anthropomorphic white seagull with a blue hat and scarf, named Marino. Designed by children from the Juraj Bonači educational centre, the mascot builds on the fact that Split is a coastal city. The attendance for the second day of the competition was about 25,000.
