Robert Mortimer (bishop)
Robert Cecil Mortimer (6 December 190211 September 1976) was an Anglican bishop in the Church of England. Mortimer was educated at St Edward's School, Oxford and Keble College in the same city. He was made deacon at Michaelmas 1926 (3 October) at his title church (St Mary Redcliffe) and ordained priest the Michaelmas following (2 October 1927) at St Alban's, Westbury-on-Trym — both times by George Nickson, Bishop of Bristol; and was a curate at St Mary Redcliffe. He then became a lecturer in canon law and then the Regius Professor of Moral and Pastoral Theology at the University of Oxford before his ordination to the episcopate in 1949 to serve as Bishop of Exeter, which See he held for 24 years. Robert Renwick Mortimer (born 23 May 1959) is an English comedian, author, television presenter, writer and actor. He is one half of the comedy double act Reeves and Mortimer with Jim Moir, Vic Reeves, and appears in the ''Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing'' series with Paul Whitehouse. He has appeared on TV panel show, panel shows such as ''Would I Lie to You?'' and Taskmaster (TV series), ''Taskmaster''. Early life Mortimer was born in Middlesbrough on 23 May 1959, and grew up with three brothers in the town's Linthorpe area. His father died in a car crash when Mortimer was seven. Robert Mortimer (16 March 1908 – 26 June 1965) was an English footballer. Career Mortimer joined Barrow in 1926, after playing for non-league clubs Connah's Quay & Shotton and Darwen and a non-playing spell with Bolton Wanderers. After making 24 appearances and scoring 10 goals in the league for Barrow, he rejoined Bolton Wanderers in 1928. He again made no league appearances for Wanderers before joining Northampton Town in 1931. He joined Brentford in 1933 after making 62 appearances and scoring 22 goals in the league for Northampton. He made no league appearances for Brentford, and joined Bournemouth & Boscombe Athletic in 1934. He made 18 appearances and scored three goals in the league for Bournemouth, and joined Accrington Stanley in 1935. He made 25 appearances and scored 19 goals in the league for them, and moved to Portsmouth in the same year. He made no league appearances for the club and re-joined Accrington in 1936.
