Robert Goethals
Robert Goethals (16 June 1922 – 7 July 2011) was a Belgian football player and coach. Playing career Goethals was born in Brasschaat. A midfielder, he played at AA Gent during and after the Second World War. He played 19 games with the team in the First Division. 1948, Goethals signed a contract in Third Division SV Waregem and he finished his career at SK Roeselare in Fourth Division. Managerial career Goethals studied Physical Education and started a career as coach after his playing career. In 1978–79, he graduated to First Division. Before, he had been the coach of, among others VG Oostende and KSV Waregem. Goethals was the successor of Urbain Braems at SK Beveren. 1979, Beveren was champion in First Division ahead of RSC Anderlecht which was coached by his namesake Raymond Goethals. Brasschaat
Brasschaat () is a municipality located in Flanders, one of the three regions of Belgium, and in the Flemish province of Antwerp. The municipality only comprises the town of Brasschaat proper. In November 2006, Brasschaat won the LivCom-Award 2006 for the most livable municipality in the world. History Origins The history of Brasschaat started with Celtic settlements. Belgian Fourth Division
The Belgian Fourth Division was the lowest nationwide division in Belgian football. The division was split into four separate leagues, A, B, C and D. The team with the most points in the four leagues together was declared the overall winner. If several league winners had the same number of points, the one with the most wins was declared champion, or if that was still tied, then the one with the best goal average was declared champion. Finally, if two teams were still equal, a single match was played on a neutral ground to determine the team to be added to the palmares. For 2016–17 the Belgian Fourth Division was replaced by the Belgian Third Amateur Division. K. Waterschei S.V. Thor Genk was a Belgian football club from the city of Genk, Limburg (Belgium). It was created in 1919 as Waterschei's Sport Vereeniging Thor with Thor being the acronym of ''Tot Herstel Onzer Rechten'' ("To recover our rights"), later changed to ''Tot Heil Onzer Ribbenkas(t)'' ("For The Benefit Of Our Rib Cage"). The Belgian Cup (; ; ) is the main knockout football competition in Belgium, run by the Royal Belgian FA. The competition started in 1908 with provincial selections as the "Belgian Provinces Cup". Starting from 1912 only actual clubs were allowed to partake. As of 1964, the Belgian Cup has been organised annually. Raymond Goethals
Raymond Goethals (, ; 7 October 1921 – 6 December 2004) was a Belgian football coach who led Marseille to victory in the UEFA Champions League final in 1993, becoming the first coach to win a European trophy with a French club.
