Ritsurin Garden
is a large, historic garden in Takamatsu, Japan. It was completed in 1745 as a private strolling garden and villa for the local feudal lords, and opened to the public in 1875. Ritsurin is one of the largest strolling gardens in Japan, and a major tourist attraction for Kagawa Prefecture. Ritsurin Garden lies in a former river bed on the east side of Mt. Shiun. Numerous ponds and small artificial hills dot the garden. The southern portion is in traditional Japanese style, with historic teahouses and numerous shaped pine trees. After becoming a public garden in 1875, the north portion underwent Western-style redesigns, and a large museum (currently the multipurpose Commerce and Industry Promotion Hall) and folk craft galleries were built in the center of the garden. is a passenger railway station located in the city of Takamatsu, Kagawa Prefecture, Japan. It is operated by JR Shikoku and has the station number "T25". Lines The station is served by the JR Shikoku Kōtoku Line and is located 4.3 km from the beginning of the line at Takamatsu. Besides local services, the Uzushio limited express between , and also stops at the station. Layout Ritsurin Station consists of an island platform serving two tracks. Track 1 is the through-track while track 2 is a passing loop. The station building is part of the elevated structure. Level 1 houses shops. The waiting room and a JR ticket window (with a ''Midori no Madoguchi'' facility) are located on level 2. Stairs and an escalator lead to the island platform on level 3. A large designated parking area for bikes is provided outside the station. The is a Japanese railway line in Kagawa Prefecture, which connects Takamatsu-Chikkō Station in Takamatsu with Kotoden-Kotohira Station in Kotohira. It is owned and operated by the Takamatsu-Kotohira Electric Railroad. The line color is yellow. History The line first opened on 21 December 1926 between Ritsurin-Kōen and Takinomiya. The line was later extended on both sides to Kotoden-Kotohira and Kawarachō in 1927.
