Rising From The North
''Rising from the North'' (also referred to as ''Rising from the North Tour'') was a concert tour co-headlined by Swedish melodic death metal bands Arch Enemy and In Flames, with special guest Soilwork. The tour was announced on November 20, 2023 and general ticket sales for the shows began four days later. The first show of the tour was October 3, 2024 at O2 Academy Glasgow in Scotland, and the closing night of the tour was November 5, 2024 at Helsinki Ice Hall in Finland. Background As three of the most popular and influential Swedish melodic death metal bands, Arch Enemy, In Flames and Soilwork have crossed paths many times throughout their careers, and Soilwork even have a song featuring Arch Enemy frontwoman Alissa White-Gluz ("Stålfågel", from the deluxe edition of 2019's ''Verkligheten''). Arch Enemy is a Swedish melodic death metal band, originally a Supergroup (music), supergroup from Halmstad, formed in 1995. Its members were in bands such as Carcass (band), Carcass, Armageddon (Swedish band), Armageddon, Carnage (band), Carnage, Mercyful Fate, Spiritual Beggars, The Agonist, Nevermore, and Eucharist (band), Eucharist. ''Verkligheten'' (English: ''The Reality'') is the eleventh studio album by Swedish melodic death metal band Soilwork, released on 11 January 2019 via Nuclear Blast. It is the first album to feature drummer Bastian Thusgaard as the replacement of longtime member Dirk Verbeuren. The album's release also marks the longest gap between Soilwork studio albums to date, with their previous album, '' The Ride Majestic'', having been released nearly three and a half years earlier. ''Loudwire'' named it one of the 50 best metal albums of 2019. Björn Strid
Björn Ove Ingemar "Speed" Strid (born 10 September 1978) is a Swedish singer best known as the frontman of the melodic death metal band Soilwork and the classic rock band The Night Flight Orchestra. He has also performed with Disarmonia Mundi, Terror 2000, Coldseed, and Act of Denial, among others. Early life Strid was born in Helsingborg. He gained the nickname "Speed" from fellow students as a result of the "extreme music" he was known to enjoy. Career Strid co-founded the melodic death metal band Soilwork in 1995 under the name Inferior Breed which was later changed to Soilwork once the fledgling band's sound began to take shape. He is the only original member still in the band. Most of Soilwork's lyrics are written by Strid himself. Velodrom (Berlin)
The Velodrom (velodrome) is an indoor track cycling arena, in the Prenzlauer Berg locality of Berlin, Germany. Holding up to 12,000 people, it was also Berlin's largest concert venue, until the opening of O2 World in 2008. It is part of a larger complex, which includes a swimming pool as well, built in the course of the unsuccessful Berlin application for the 2000 Summer Olympics. Columbiahalle is a concert venue in the Tempelhof district of Berlin. Built in 1951 as a sports hall for US soldiers, it opened as a venue in 1998. It should not be confused with Columbia Theater, a former cinema on the same site, also opened in 1951 for US soldiers, which is also now a music venue.
