Richmond Strikers
Richmond Strikers is a sports club based in Henrico County, near Richmond, Virginia. The Strikers' team colors are orange, white, and black. The Strikers are a multi-sport club and offer soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, cricket, and rugby. The Strikers have over 6,000 members from travel soccer, recreation, adult league and all other sports. The Strikers are also the host of the Jefferson Cup, one of the largest youth soccer tournaments in the United States. Club history The Strikers were formed in 1975 as Three Chopt Soccer Association. In 1986, they adopted the Strikers name. In 2006, the Strikers merged with Virginia Capital Area Soccer League (CASL), making the Strikers one of the largest clubs in Virginia. Jefferson Cup
The Jefferson Cup is a youth soccer tournament held annually since 1981 in Richmond, Virginia. hosted by the Richmond Strikers soccer club. The girls side is the No. 1 ranked youth soccer tournament in the United States, according to GotSoccer.com, while the boys side ranks 31st. About 800 boys and girls teams are typically accepted to attend the Jefferson Cup, and some 500 teams are declined admission to the tournament every year. Age groups run from Under 11 to Under 18. In 2014, 461 girls teams were accepted, as well as 401 boys teams. Beginning in 2015, it was played over a span of three weekends in March, rather than two weekends as in years past. It includes one boys weekend, two girls weekends, and a goalkeeper showcase. William R. Bates (born April 1, 1991) is an American soccer player who plays for the Richmond Strikers of the National Premier Soccer League. Career High school Bates attended and played soccer at Thomas Dale High School under head coach Mark Fowler. During his career at TD, he was a four time starter, four time all-district player, two time all-region player, all-state player, and two-time state champion. Adam Cristman (born January 8, 1985) is an American former professional soccer player. Career Youth and college Cristman graduated from Mills Godwin High School in Richmond, Virginia, where as a senior in 2003 he helped seal a perfect 22–0–0 record for the team on way to an AAA state championship and No. 1 national ranking. He played college soccer at the University of Virginia, where he scored 34 career goals and accumulated 15 assists. Joseph Haboush (born August 28, 1990) is an American former soccer player who played as a midfielder. He is of Lebanese descent. Brian Tyler Ownby (born July 16, 1990) is an American soccer player who plays for Louisville City in the USL Championship. Early life Personal Ownby was born in Glen Allen, Virginia to parents Steve and Andrea Ownby and has a younger brother named Eric.
