Ri Thae-sop
Ri Thae-sop () is a North Korean politician and general. He served as Minister of Social Security and from June 2022 to December as Chief of the General Staff. He is also a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea. He served as Commander of the 5th Corps and Commander of the 7th Corps. Biography Ri's birthplace and date of birth are unknown. In April 2004, he was promoted to Major General of the Korean People's Army, and in September 2010, he was elected as a candidate member of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea at the 3rd party conference. Following the death of Kim Jong Il on December 17, 2011, was included as a member of the funeral commission. Ministry Of Social Security (North Korea)
The Ministry of Social Security (previously known as the Ministry of People's Security from 2000 to 2020) is the Ministry of home affairs, interior ministry and principal law enforcement agency within North Korea. The ministry serves as the official public and internal security force, responsible for maintaining public order and protecting key facilities including railways and other forms of transport. It also maintains a large paramilitary internal force, known as the Social Security Forces. Unlike most ministries in North Korea, which operate under the Cabinet of North Korea, Cabinet, the Ministry of Social Security is directly supervised by the State Affairs Commission, though in the past it has been subordinate to other national bodies. Military Parades In North Korea
This is a list of military parades held in Pyongyang, the capital of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) since 1948. All military parades consist of troops from the Korean People's Army and the paramilitary Worker-Peasant Red Guards. All military parades of a national nature are held on Pyongyang's Kim Il Sung Square with the General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, President of the State Affairs Commission and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of North Korea in attendance. 2019 North Korean Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in North Korea on 10 March 2019 to elect the members of the 14th Supreme People's Assembly. The elections were announced on 6 January 2019. With only one candidate on the ballot in each constituency, outside observers described it as a show election. 687 candidates for the DPRK deputies to the SPA were elected. Kim Jong Un did not stand for election, marking the first time that a North Korean leader did not participate as a candidate. The 7th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), the ruling party of North Korea, was held on 6–9 May 2016. Background The 7th Congress was the first Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea held since the 6th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea, 6th Congress in 1980. 2014 North Korean Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in North Korea on 9 March 2014 to elect the members of the 13th Supreme People's Assembly. Background These were the first elections since Kim Jong Un became leader of the country as the leader of the Workers' Party of Korea, following the death of his father Kim Jong Il and the execution of Jang Song-thaek. Outside observers claimed the elections were an effective way to poll the population on their opinion on the government. In addition, it functioned as a way for the government to determine whether any of its citizens had illegally changed their voting district within the country, or if people had left the country. The North Korean Government did so by enforcing borders and surveillance, in order to make sure that the voter turnout is reflective of the population.
