Rhycherinae
''Rhycherus'' is a genus of marine Actinopterygii, ray-finned fishes belonging to the subfamily Histiophryninae in the Family (biology), family Antennariidae, the frogfishes. The fishes in this genus are Endemism, endemic to the waters off Australia. This genus is classified in the monogeneric family Rhycheridae, the Balrog frogfishes, by some authorities. Taxonomy ''Rhycherus'' was first proposed as a monospecific genus in 1907 by the Australian ichthyologist James Douglas Ogilby when he Species description, described ''Rhycherus wildii''. ''R. wildii'' had its Type locality (biology), type locality given as South Australia, this taxon is now considered to be a junior synonym of ''Chironectes filamentosus'', originally described by François-Louis Laporte, comte de Castelnau in 1872 from St Vincent Gulf in South Australia. Some authorities classify this genus in the subfamily Histiophryninae within the family Antennariidae, while others place it in the Monotypic taxon, monotypic ...

James Douglas Ogilby
James Douglas Ogilby (16 February 1853 – 11 August 1925) was an Australian ichthyologist and herpetologist. Ogilby was born in Belfast, Ireland, and was the son of zoologist William Ogilby and his wife Adelaide, née Douglas. He received his education at Winchester College, England, and Trinity College, Dublin. Ogilby worked for the British Museum before joining the Australian Museum in Sydney. After being let go for drunkenness in 1890, he picked up contract work before joining the Queensland Museum in Brisbane circa 1903. He was the author of numerous scientific papers on reptiles, and he described a new species of turtle and several new species of lizards. Death Ogilby died on 11 August 1925 at the Diamantina Hospital in Brisbane and was buried at Toowong Cemetery.
