This article lists the many characters of ''Futurama,'' an American animated science fiction sitcom created by Matt Groening and developed by Groening and David X. Cohen for the Fox Broadcasting Company. The series follows the adventures of a late-20th-century New York City pizza delivery boy, Philip J. Fry, who, after being unwittingly cryogenically frozen for one thousand years, finds employment at Planet Express, an interplanetary delivery company in the retro-futuristic 31st century. Futurama Season 6
The sixth season of ''Futurama'' originally aired on Comedy Central from June 24, 2010, to September 8, 2011, and consisted of 26 episodes. The Season (television), season marks the change of networks from Fox Broadcasting Company, Fox to Comedy Central. The first 13 episodes (known as Season 6-A) aired during 2010, and the remaining 13 episodes (known as Season 6-B) aired during 2011. This makes the episode "The Futurama Holiday Spectacular" the mid-season finale, despite airing almost twelve weeks after ''Futurama'' The Mutants Are Revolting, 100th episode. The final episode of the season, "Reincarnation (Futurama), Reincarnation", aired on September 8, 2011 as a three-segment Canon (fiction), non-canonical special after the official season finale. Professor Farnsworth
Professor Hubert J. Farnsworth, commonly referred to in-show as either Professor Farnsworth or simply Professor, is a fictional character in the American animated television series ''Futurama''. The mad scientist proprietor of the Planet Express delivery service for whom the main characters work, he is the great (×30) grandnephew of series protagonist Philip J. Fry. He alternates between intelligence and amoral senility due to his greatly advanced age (the exact value of which has differed across episodes). He demonstrates a mastery of any field of science necessary for the series' plots and is suggested to be one of the most brilliant inventors on Earth. William Richard Werstine (born 1952), known professionally as Billy West, is an American voice actor, comedian, radio personality, impressionist and musician. ''Futurama: Into the Wild Green Yonder'' is a 2009 American direct-to-video adult animated science fiction comedy-adventure film based on the animated series ''Futurama'', and the fourth and final of the direct-to-DVD films that make up the show's fifth season. The film was written by Ken Keeler, based on a story by Keeler and David X. Cohen, and directed by Peter Avanzino. Guest stars include Phil Hendrie, Penn Jillette (credited with Teller), Snoop Dogg, and Seth MacFarlane, who sings the theme song. ''Futurama: Bender's Game'' is a 2008 American direct-to-video adult animated science fantasy comedy film and the third of the four ''Futurama'' films that make up the show's fifth season. It was released on DVD and Blu-ray on November 4, 2008. According to the '' Beast with a Billion Backs'' DVD commentary, the film, which spoofs ''Dungeons & Dragons'', was in production when ''Dungeons & Dragons'' creator, Gary Gygax, died. The film contains a post-credits tribute to Gygax in the form of a title card and a clip of him from the episode "Anthology of Interest I". Elements of J. R. R. Tolkien's ''The Lord of the Rings'' and George Lucas' ''Star Wars'' are also parodied. The title of the film is a pun on the book ''Ender's Game'', by Orson Scott Card, though the ''Futurama'' film has "very little to do with the subject material" of the book.
