Retirement Systems of Alabama is the administrator of the pension fund for employees of the state of Alabama. It is headquartered in the state capital Montgomery, Alabama. David G. Bronner is the chief executive officer. Under Bronner's leadership, RSA has made a number of large real estate investments, some of them highly public. Its best known development is the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, a chain of eleven golf course complexes throughout the state. In 2019, RSA owned 26 golf courses. Since the beginning of the 21st century, RSA has been ranked among the 20 largest internally funded pension funds in the world. Van Antwerp Building
The Van Antwerp Building is a high-rise in the U.S. city of Mobile, Alabama. Completed in 1907, the building rises 11 stories and was the first skyscraper in the city. It is regarded as the first reinforced concrete skyscraper in Alabama and the Southeastern United States. In the early 21st century, the structure is the 8th-tallest building in Mobile. The building, an example of Beaux-Arts architecture, was designed by architect George Bigelow Rogers for Garet Van Antwerp, a wealthy Mobile druggist. RSA Trustmark Building
The RSA Trustmark Building, originally the First National Bank Building, is a 34 story, International Style office tower located in downtown Mobile, Alabama. Most recently known as the AmSouth Bank Building, it had been named in honor of its largest tenant until 2006, AmSouth Bancorporation. It was renamed the GM Building by its new owner, Retirement Systems of Alabama, in 2009. Following a lease agreement with BancTrust Financial Group and its community bank subsidiary, BankTrust, it was renamed again, this time to the RSA–BankTrust Building. The RSA Judicial Building, also known as RSA Dexter Avenue Building, is office high-rise in Montgomery, Alabama owned by Retirement Systems of Alabama (RSA) completed in 2011. Built on the grounds of the former home of the Alabama Supreme Court its incorporates the 1926 three-story courthouse complex called the Judicial Building within its glass atrium. The RSA Battle House Tower is located in Mobile, Alabama and is Alabama's tallest building. The building is owned by the Retirement Systems of Alabama (RSA). It is the tallest on the Gulf Coast of the United States outside Houston, although not counting the antenna spire the Hancock Whitney Center in New Orleans remains taller. It replaces the Shipt Tower in Birmingham as the tallest building in Alabama and the RSA–BankTrust Building as the tallest in Mobile. The building is named for the neighboring Battle House Hotel, which is now part of the tower complex. The Battle House Hotel was restored and renovated as part of the tower project.
