''Relentless Recurrence'' is the third studio album by the Taiwanese black metal band Chthonic, released in 2002. The album was only available in Taiwan until its re-release in 2007 by SPV with revamped packaging, including English translations. A music video was released for the song "Onset of Tragedy" and was the band's first music video. The album was originally only available in Taiwan, until it was re-released by Nightfall Records in English format in 2002. Both versions of the album are now out of print and is hard to find. It is the only Chthonic album to feature two different (although similar) album covers upon its initial release. Freddy Lim
Freddy Lim Tshiong-tso (; Tâi-lô: ''Lîm Tshióng-tsò''; born 1 February 1976) is a Taiwanese politician, musician, and independence activist. He is the lead vocalist of the Taiwanese heavy-metal band Chthonic. and the lead vocalist of the band started by him and American guitarist Marty Friedman. Lim served as chair of Amnesty International Taiwan from 2010 to 2014. He was one of the founding leaders of the New Power Party (NPP) in Taiwan and represented the party in the Legislative Yuan until 2019. Lim won a second legislative term as an independent in 2020. Early life and music career Lim was an ardent supporter of Chinese unification as a student, because he was taught from China-centric textbooks in middle school and high school. Black Metal
Black metal is an extreme subgenre of heavy metal music. Common traits include fast tempos, a shrieking vocal style, heavily distorted guitars played with tremolo picking, raw ( lo-fi) recording, unconventional song structures, and an emphasis on atmosphere. Chthonic (band)
Chthonic (sometimes typeset ChthoniC or ChThoniC) is a Taiwanese heavy metal band, formed in 1995 in Taipei. They have been called "the Black Sabbath of Asia." The group incorporates influences from traditional Taiwanese music, including adaptations of folk songs and the use of traditional instruments, most notably the erhu (often called the ''hiân-á'' [] in the band's native Taiwanese Hokkien).
