Regional Development
Regional development refers to a broad category of policies aimed at reducing regional disparities within an economy or across economies by devoting resources to underdeveloped areas. Regional development can be national or international in nature. Therefore, the implications and scope of regional development may vary according to the definition of a region and how the region and its boundaries are perceived internally and externally. In the past, regional development tended to center mostly on inward investment within national economies (OECD,2020). In recent decades, however, regional development has taken on an increasingly international character. DEMOLOGOS
''Demologos'' was the first warship to be propelled by a steam engine. She was a wooden floating battery built to defend New York Harbor from the Royal Navy during the War of 1812. The vessel was designed to a unique pattern by Robert Fulton, and was renamed ''Fulton'' after his death. Because of the prompt end of the war, ''Demologos'' never saw action, and no other ship like her was built. History On 9 March 1814, United States Congress, Congress authorized the construction of a steam warship to be designed by Robert Fulton, a pioneer of commercial steamers in North America. The construction of the ship began on 20 June 1814, at the civilian yard of Adam and Noah Brown, and the ship was launched on 29 October. After sea trials she was delivered to the United States Navy in June 1816. Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission
The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) is the metropolitan planning organization for Central Ohio, including the state capital, Columbus. MORPC covers Franklin, Fairfield, Perry, Hocking, Logan, Union, Delaware, Morrow, and Knox counties, including nearly all of their municipalities. The organization also covers the cities of Ashville, Circleville, Chillicothe, and Johnstown. History MORPC was founded in 1943, as the Franklin County Planning Commission to address issues related to growth in the region. It gradually grew to encompass multiple counties. The organization became the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) in 1969. Its program areas include transportation, water, housing and community development, and zoning.
