Regal Theatre, Adelaide
The Regal Theatre, formerly known as the Chelsea Cinema, the Princess Theatre and the Ozone Marryatville or Marryatville Ozone Theatre, is a single-screen cinema in Kensington Park, a suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. Originally built in 1925 to the designs of South Australian theatre architect Christopher Arthur Smith, it retains the features of a major renovation in Art Deco style in 1941 designed by noted cinema architect F. Kenneth Milne. It was heritage-listed on the South Australian Heritage Register in 1983. It is the oldest continuously running purpose-built cinema in Adelaide, and the only remaining silent cinema still operating in the city. It is owned by Burnside Council. The Regal Theatre is a fine Art Deco theatre located in the Perth suburb of Subiaco in Western Australia. It was built in 1937, and officially opened on 27 April 1938. The venue was built by grandparents of playwright Dorothy Hewett. Named for King George VI who ascended to the throne during its construction, the theatre was originally for films only, but in 1977 it was converted into a live theatre. it is one of the few remaining theatres in Perth. The Avalon Regal Theater (originally the Avalon Theater, and later the New Regal Theater) is a music hall located at 1641 East 79th Street, bordered by the Avalon Park and South Shore neighborhoods on the south side of Chicago, Illinois, United States. The theater opened in August 1927 and is a noted venue for African-American performers. Regal Theater, Chicago
The Regal Theater was a night club, theater, and music venue, popular among African Americans, located in the Bronzeville neighborhood in Chicago, Illinois. The theater was designed by Edward Eichenbaum, and opened in February 1928. It closed in 1968 and was demolished in 1973. Part of the Balaban and Katz chain, the lavishly decorated venue, with plush carpeting and velvet drapes, featured some of the most celebrated African-American entertainers in America. On what for a time was known as the Chitlin' Circuit, the Regal also featured motion pictures and live stage shows. The Regal Theatre also known as the Regal Cinema was a single screen cinema hall and theatre situated in Connaught Place in New Delhi, India. History The theatre, which was the biggest in New Delhi, was built in 1932. It served as a venue for ballets, plays and talkies. The Regal was also the site of theatrical premiere of Bollywood and Hollywood films. The Academy Award-winning ''Gone with the Wind'' had its Indian premiere at the Regal in 1940. Films involving Raj Kapoor and Nargis also made its premiere at the theatre.
