Reckange-sur-Mess
Reckange-sur-Mess (; ) is a Communes of Luxembourg, commune and small town in south-western Luxembourg. It is part of the Esch-sur-Alzette (canton), canton of Esch-sur-Alzette. The commune comprises the villages of Reckange-sur-Mess, Ehlange-sur-Mess, Limpach, Luxembourg, Limpach, Roedgen, Pissange and Wickrange. It is situated on the Mess River, from which its suffix is derived. Esch-sur-Alzette (canton)
Esch-sur-Alzette () is a canton in southwestern Luxembourg. It is both the second most populous and second most densely populated canton after the canton of Luxembourg. It borders Belgium & France. History Like the other cantons of Luxembourg, the canton of Esch dates back to 31 August 1795. However, it was created under the name of the canton of Soleuvre. This term was of short duration since, already on 22 October 1796, a new decree renamed it the canton of Bascharage. Bascharage canton was less spread-out than the current canton of Esch since Leudelange, Pontpierre, Bettembourg and Dudelange belonged to the canton of Hesperange, created to the south of the capital. Bascharage canton, on the other hand, included Marner, which is now in Capellen canton. Leudelange (; ; ) is a commune and town in south-western Luxembourg. It is situated in the canton of Esch-sur-Alzette. , the town of Leudelange, which lies in the centre of the commune, had a population of 2,780. Aloyse Hentgen
Aloyse Hentgen (16 July 1894 – 1 December 1953) was a Luxembourgish politician. Early life and education He was born in Roedgen. From 1913 to 1916 he studied law in Paris and Fribourg. On 13 July 1917 he became a member of the bar in Luxembourg. Career On 29 February 1920 he was a co-founder of the first Luxembourgish insurance company, La Luxembourgeoise. He became president of its supervisory board, then from 1923 managing director of the insurance division, and from 1933, managing director of the banking division. On 10 December 1933, he co-founded the Luxembourgish Basketball Federation, and was president of its committee from 1933 to 1936. He was also an avid supporter of the Scout movement. Before World War II he was the head Scout in Luxembourg, and from 1944 to 1948 was ''Commissaire général'' of the Federation of Luxembourgish Scouts. Bertrange (; ; ) is a commune and town in south-western Luxembourg. It is located 6.5 km west of Luxembourg City. , the commune has a population of 8,668, of which just over half are Luxembourgers.
