Rebekah Scheinfeld
Rebekah Scheinfeld was the Commissioner of the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT), appointed by mayor Rahm Emanuel in 2014. She resigned in May 2019. As transportation commissioner, Scheinfeld oversaw projects including the Chicago Riverwalk and the 606 trail. She was involved in initiatives to promote pedestrian safety and endorsed the deployment of red-light and speed cameras. The Chicago Riverwalk is a multi-use public open space located on the south bank of the main branch of the Chicago River in Chicago, extending from Lake Michigan and the Outer Drive Bridge westward to the Wolf Point area and Lake Street. Bloomingdale Trail
The Bloomingdale Trail is a elevated rail trail linear park running east–west on the northwest side of Chicago. It is the longest greenway project of a former elevated rail line in the Western Hemisphere, and the second longest in the world, after the Promenade plantee linear park in Paris.
