Ready Set Learn!
''Ready Set Learn!'' is a defunct American television block broadcast from late 1992 until 2010 across the Discovery Communications-owned TLC and Discovery Kids networks. A cable competitor to PBS Kids, PBS's children's offerings, it broadcast twice on weekday mornings and comprised three hours of original, imported, and rerun programming plus music videos geared towards preschoolers. In its early years, it was hosted by children's entertainer Rory Zuckerman, who was billed mononymously; an early 2003 relaunch replaced her with The Paz Show, Paz, a penguin who was represented in animated and puppet form. A 1990 Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, Carnegie Foundation report inspired Discovery to develop the block; shows were selected based on their educational value and visual vibrancy. ''The Paz Show'' (also known as ''Paz the Penguin'' stylized ''PAZ'') is a preschool television series that debuted on 24 February 2003 on Discovery Kids and TLC in the United States. It also aired on ITV in the United Kingdom. The series is a co-production between British studio King Rollo Films and Egmont Imagination (Season 1)/ Telescreen BV (Season 2) in association with Discovery Kids. The Vision Interfaith Satellite Network (VISN) was an American religious cable and satellite television network that was owned by the interfaith group National Interfaith Cable Coalition, in cooperation with cable operators. The channel became known as the "PBS of religion" for the inclusive nature of its programming, which was designed to "place its accent on dialogue rather than apologies." ''Join In!'' was a Canadian educational children's television show which aired on TVOntario between 1989 and 1995. It was created and produced by Jed MacKay, who also wrote all of the show's original songs. Premise Each episode had a number of elements woven into the plot line that invited its audience to "Join In!"; in games, songs, puzzles, or stories. The cast also broke the fourth wall, talking to the camera, and thus the audience, as if they were right there on set. The songs broke away from the usual children's format, offering a wide variety of rhythm and styles. The cast also sang live on each show.
