Islamic State Of Iraq
The Islamic State of Iraq (ISI; ') was a Salafi jihadist militant organization that fought the forces of the U.S.-led coalition during the Iraqi insurgency. The organization aimed to overthrow the Iraqi federal government and establish an Islamic state governed by Sharia law in Iraq. Islamic State of Iraq traces its origins to '' Jama'at al-Tawhid wal-Jihad'' (JTJ) group, which was formed by the Jordanian national Abu Musab al-Zarqawi in Jordan in 1999. Al-Zarqawi led the group, until his death in June 2006. The Egyptian magazine ''ar-Rawi'' (Arabic: الراوي; DMG: ar Rāwī; English: "The Narrator") was published in Alexandria, part of the Khedivate of Egypt, between 1888 and 1890. A total of 21 issues in two volumes were edited. Founder of the magazine was the Lebanese journalist and author Salim Sarkis (1869-1926). A ''rāwī'' was a List of oral repositories, reciter and transmitter of Arabic poetry in the pre-Islamic Arabia, pre-Islamic and early Islamic period (mid-seventh–early eighth centuries). The term was also applied to transmitters of ''akhbar'' (narrative traditions) and hadiths (sayings and traditions attributed to the Islamic prophet Muhammad and his companions of Muhammad, companions). Meaning ''Rawi'' is an Arabic term, meaning "to bear by memory, to transmit or recite." It is a derivative of ''rawa'', an Arabic term, meaning "to carry or convey water." Suhaib Al-Rawi
Suhaib al-Rawi (; born 1966) is an Iraqi politician and the former Governor of Anbar until August 2017. He is a member of the Iraqi Islamic Party. Political career On 23 December 2014, the Anbar Provincial Council voted in al-Rawi as the next Governor of the province. 18 out of the 30 members of the council voted for al-Rawi during a meeting held in Baghdad. Previously, on 13 December, the council had voted to make al-Rawi's predecessor, Ahmad Khalaf al-Dulaimi, retire due to injuries he had received. Nuri Al-Rawi
Noori al-Rawi (1925–2014) was an Iraqi painter; a pioneer of Iraqi art who played an important role in shaping the Iraqi modern art movement through his roles as a practising artist, author, television presenter, art administrator and art critic. Life and career Noori al-Rawi was born in 1925 in Rawa, Iraq, Rawa, Al Anbar, Iraq, in the fertile, agricultural lands between the Euphrates River and the mountains and near the Babylonian city of Anah. This rural setting provided him with a lifelong source of inspiration, based on landscapes, villages and village life, all of which became his preferred subject matter. In his youth, he spent much of his time in the Baghdad Library, where he met the poet, Badr Shakir al-Sayyab, who lived in a government apartment nearby.
