Randers Cimbria
Randers Cimbria is a Danish basketball team based in Randers. The best season of the team in history were 2014 and 2020, when they finished second in the Basketligaen. History Randers was founded in 1965, but after winning the bronze medal in 2008-09 they were declared bankrupt, and were relegated to the 2. division. In 2011-12 they were again promoted to the best liga in Denmark, and have been there since. Basketligaen
The Basketligaen ( en, The Basketball League) is the highest professional basketball league in Denmark. The original men's first division was founded in 1957 and the current league was founded in 1998. All-time record holder in league titles is Bakken Bears, which has captured 18 titles in its history. BMS is the only team with 5 titles in a row, starting in 1986 through 1990. The main TV partner of the league is Sport Live. The league consists of 10 teams, with no relegation rules. The 2018–19 Basketligaen was the 44th season of the highest professional basketball tier in Denmark. The season started on 25 September 2018 and ended on 13 May 2019. Bakken Bears defended its title. Ryan Evans of the Bears was named the season's Most Valuable Player. Competition format Teams were divided into two groups: Pro A, joined by the best five teams in the previous season, and Pro B, by the rest of the team. Each team would play against each other of their same league four times, while only twice with teams from the other side. The five teams of Pro A and the best three of Pro B qualified for playoffs. Bakken Bears was the defending champion, and won the championship again after beating Horsens IC in the play-off finals. Competition format In the regular season, teams played against each other four times home-and-away in double a round-robin format. The eight teams advanced to the playoffs. Teams Wolfpack returned to the Basketligan after a two-year absence. They replaced SISU, which was the last qualified in the previous season and therefore relegated. Arena Randers
Arena Randers is a complex of sports facilities, located in Randers, Denmark The hall's history goes back to 1952, when Randers Freja constructed Annex Hall. The ground was provided by Randers Municipality, which in 1962 took over the hall. It was also the municipality that paid for the construction of the Randershallen, which was completed in 1972 and cost 9 million. kr. to construct. The hall has over the years laid floor for everything from boxing handball matches to consumer fairs. The third hall simply called Hall 3, was inaugurated in 2007. Charlie Burgess
Charles Burgess (25 December 1883 – 1956) was an English footballer who played in the Football League for Manchester City and Stoke. Career Burgess was born in Church Lawton and played amateur football with Butt Lane Swifts before joining Stoke in 1901, he apparently signed the contract with Stoke whilst sitting on a haystack at his father's farm. He soon became a regular member of Horace Austerberry's squad at a time when Stoke were struggling financially it came as a welcome relief to find a very capable local player. He was a solid defender who produce some hard but fair challenges on opponents. He remained with Stoke until they went bankrupt in 1908 and Burgess joined Manchester City after making 195 appearances for Stoke. His time at Hyde Road was hampered by a knee injury which eventually caused him to retire.
