Rael Dornfest
Rael Dornfest is an American computer programmer and author. He was a Technical Fellow and CTO of Charity: Water, and was previously an engineer at Twitter. He was Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Values of N, creator of "I Want Sandy" and "Stikkit: Little Yellow Notes that Think." Previously, he was Chief Technology Officer at O'Reilly Media. He began working for Twitter after they bought the assets of his company Values of N. He led the RSS-DEV Working Group, which authored RSS 1.0 and is the author of Blosxom, a lightweight Perl-based publishing system. He was Series Editor of O’Reilly's ''Hacks'' series, and has co-authored a number of books including '' Google Hacks'' (), ''Mac OS X Panther Hacks'' (), and ''Google: The Missing Manual'' (). TechTV
TechTV is a defunct 24-hour cable and satellite channel based in San Francisco featuring news and shows about computers, technology, and the Internet. In 2004, it merged with the G4 gaming channel which ultimately dissolved TechTV programming. At the height of its six-year run, TechTV was broadcast in 70 countries, reached 43 million households, and claimed 1.9 million unique visitors monthly to its website. A focus on personality-driven product reviews and technical support made it a cultural hub for technology information worldwide, still existing today online through its former hosts' webcasts, most notably the TWiT Network. ''Google Hacks: Tips & Tools for Smarter Searching'' is a book of tips about Google by Tara Calishain and Rael Dornfest. It was listed in the ''New York Times'' top ten business paperbacks in May 2003, considered at the time to be "unprecedented" for a technology book, and "even rarer" for the topic of search engines. The book was first published by O'Reilly in February 2002. The third edition of the book was released in 2006. It covers tips of all kinds, from usage hints for the novice just using Google, to advice for the expert programming the Google Web API. Much of the content provided in the book can also be used for Google Hacking, the act of finding security issues through Google searches. Most programming examples are written in Perl.
