Radio Tay
Radio Tay is a group of two Independent Local Radio stations serving Tayside and northeast Fife in Scotland. Radio Tay is owned and operated by Bauer Radio and forms part of Bauer's Hits Radio and Greatest Hits Radio network of radio stations. Radio Tay was formerly based at 6 North Isla Street in Dundee, however due to the station vacating the premises, now their only dedicated local show for the Tayside area (weekday breakfast) is broadcast from Radio Forth's studio in Edinburgh. Tayside Sound Limited was incorporated on 27 April 1979 to set up a radio station in accordance with the then regulatory body, the Independent Broadcasting Authority. Radio Tay commenced broadcasting on Friday 17 October 1980 from the Taybridge TV transmitter site at the southern end of the Tay Road Bridge on 95.8 MHz FM and an AM transmitter on 1161 kHz at Greenside Scalp close to the Taybridge site but located lower down, at the shoreline of the River Tay. Tayside
Tayside () was one of the nine regions used for local government in Scotland from 16 May 1975 to 31 March 1996. The region was named after the River Tay. History Tayside region was created in 1975 under the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973, which established a two-tier structure of local government across mainland Scotland comprising upper-tier regions and lower-tier districts, following recommendations made by the 1969 Wheatley Report. Tayside region covered the whole area of the counties of Angus, Dundee (which was a county of a city), Kinross-shire and most of Perthshire. Tayside region was divided into three districts: Angus, Dundee, and Perth and Kinross. Greatest Hits Radio Tayside & Fife (formerly Tay AM and Tay 2) is an Independent Local Radio station based in Dundee, Scotland, owned and operated by Bauer as part of the Greatest Hits Radio network. It is broadcast in Dundee, Perth and Tayside. As of December 2023, the station has a weekly audience of 35,000 listeners, according to RAJAR. History Radio Tay commenced broadcasting on 17 October 1980, in Dundee and 14 November 1980 in Perth with Gerry Quinn presenting the first show from the studios. In early years, the station broadcast only from 6am-8pm daily. On 9 January 1995 the station split its services/frequencies to become Tay AM and Tay FM. Dave Bussey (born 4 October 1952) is an English radio disc jockey who, until March 2008, presented ''The Dave Bussey Show'' on BBC Radio Lincolnshire. Early life He was born in Drayton, Norfolk and grew up in Norwich, attending a secondary modern school. He joined the Royal Navy, becoming an electrician on nuclear submarines. Broadcasting Dave Bussey started his career on Radio Forth (Edinburgh) before spending five years at Radio Tay (Dundee and Perth). Mark Goodier
Mark Goodier (born 9 June 1961) is a Zimbabwean-born British radio disc jockey and broadcaster best known for his time on BBC Radio 1 between 1987 and 2002. He had two spells presenting the station's Top 40 singles chart, from September 1990 to March 1992 and again from April 1995 until November 2002, becoming the show's longest serving presenter. He also had a stint on the Radio 1 Breakfast Show during 1993. ''Beechgrove'' (formerly known as ''The Beechgrove Garden'') is a television gardening programme broadcast since 1978 on BBC Scotland. David Robertson (broadcaster)
David Robertson (born 1965 in Dundee) is a Scottish former journalist and newsreader for Reporting Scotland from 2000 to 2008. Career Robertson's career began at Dundee radio station Radio Tay. He joined the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) in the late 1980s, as a reporter and correspondent, covering the Bosnian War from Sarajevo and reporting from the US, Germany and Spain. He was also a presenter in the early days of BBC News 24 on the Breakfast show. From 2000 to 2008, Robertson worked as a presenter on ''Reporting Scotland'', joining established presenters Jackie Bird and Sally Magnusson.
