Rabbit Every Monday
''Rabbit Every Monday'' is a 1951 Warner Bros. ''Looney Tunes'' cartoon directed by Friz Freleng. The short was released on February 10, 1951, and stars Bugs Bunny and Yosemite Sam. The title is a play on '' Chicken Every Sunday''. It is the last short to feature Sam's mouth below his mustache; his design changes midway through the film. ''Rabbit Every Monday'' has the distinction of being the first ''Looney Tunes'' cartoon to appear on the first episode of ''The Bugs Bunny Show'', on October 11, 1960. Plot Bugs is cooking carrots on a rotisserie and singing a parody of the song "It's Magic" (from the 1948 Warner Bros. film '' Romance on the High Seas''). Yosemite Sam is hunting and, when he smells carrots cooking, knows he must be close to a rabbit. Friz Freleng
Isadore "Friz" Freleng (August 21, 1905May 26, 1995), credited as I. Freleng early in his career, was an American animator, cartoonist, director, producer, and composer known for his work at Warner Bros. Cartoons on the ''Looney Tunes'' and '' Merrie Melodies'' series of cartoons. In total he created more than 300 cartoons. He introduced and/or developed several of the studio's biggest stars, including Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, Tweety, Sylvester, Yosemite Sam (to whom he was said to bear more than a passing resemblance), and Speedy Gonzales. The senior director at Warners' Termite Terrace studio, Freleng directed more cartoons than any other director in the studio (a total of 266), and is also the most honored of the Warner directors, having won five Academy Awards and three Emmy Awards. It's Magic
"It's Magic" is a popular song written by Jule Styne, with lyrics by Sammy Cahn, published in 1947. They wrote the song for Doris Day in her Warner Brothers film debut, '' Romance on the High Seas'' (retitled ''It's Magic'' in the United Kingdom, after the song). In the autumn of 1948 Vic Damone, Tony Martin, Dick Haymes, Gordon MacRae and Sarah Vaughan all charted on ''Billboard'' magazine charts with versions of the song, but none as successfully as Day's recording. "It's Magic" received an Academy Award nomination for Best Song, but in March 1949 lost to " Buttons and Bows" by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans. ''Bunny Hugged'' is a 1951 Warner Bros. ''Merrie Melodies'' short, directed by Chuck Jones and written by Michael Maltese. The short was released on March 10, 1951, and stars Bugs Bunny. ''Bunny Hugged'' is essentially a re-working of Jones' 1948 short ''Rabbit Punch'', substituting wrestling for boxing. Plot A wrestling match pits professional wrestler Ravishing Ronald, "the de-natured boy" (a parody of Gorgeous George and "Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers) against current champion the Crusher. Bugs, the mascot of Ravishing Ronald ("It's a livin'"), watches from a corner as the Crusher uses Ronald, tied up in his own hairnet, as a punching bag. Worried that he will lose his meal ticket, Bugs decides to enter the match as "The Masked Terror", wearing a covering over his entire head. ''Hare We Go'' is a 1951 Warner Bros. ''Merrie Melodies'' cartoon directed by Robert McKimson. The short was released on January 6, 1951, and features Bugs Bunny. Plot In 1492 Christopher Columbus is arguing with the king of Spain whether the world is round or flat. Columbus suggests that the Earth is round like an apple or a human head. King Ferdinand insists the Earth is flat like a pancake (and Columbus' head, after flattening it with his scepter). Eventually the king kicks Columbus out of his palace. Then Bugs Bunny emerges from his rabbit hole and asks Columbus what's bothering him. Columbus says that no one believes his theory, but Bugs, after looking at Columbus' globe, says "She looks round to me, Doc."
