C-RAN (Cloud-RAN), also referred to as Centralized-RAN, is an architecture for cellular networks. C-RAN is a centralized, cloud computing-based architecture for radio access networks that supports 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G and future wireless communication standards. Its name comes from the four 'C's in the main characteristics of C-RAN system, "Clean, Centralized processing, Collaborative radio, and a real-time Cloud Radio Access Network". A cran, in use from at least as early as the 18th century, was a unit of measure of landed uncleaned herring used in the North Sea fishing industry. In 1852 it was defined to be the equivalent of one standard box of about 37.5 imperial gallons - typically around 1200 fish, but varying anywhere between 700 and 2500. In metric units it is about 170.5 litres. The word is from Scottish Gaelic , meaning "lot, measure of herring, tree". James Douglas Cran (28 January 1944 – 1 June 2023) was a British Conservative Party politician. He was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Beverley (1987–1997) and for Beverley and Holderness (1997–2005). Early life Cran went to Ruthrieston School in Aberdeen and became the school's 1959 Dux Medallion winner. He studied at the University of Aberdeen, gaining an Honours MA. He was the National Winner of the 1968 Daily Mirror Speaking Trophy. Mount Cran
Mount Cran is a mountain in Canterbury, New Zealand. Description Mount Cran is set in the Ben Ohau Range of the Southern Alps and is situated in the Canterbury Region of the South Island. This peak is located south of Mount Cook Village. Precipitation runoff from the mountain's northwest slope drains to the headwaters of the Dobson River, whereas all other slopes drain east to the Tasman River via Freds and Birch Hill streams. Topographic relief is significant as the summit rises above Birch Hill Stream in two kilometres. The nearest higher peak is Mount Sealy, four kilometres to the north. The first ascent of the summit was made in March 1916 by Harold Sloman and Conrad Kain.
