Lamberts Bay
Lambert's Bay is a small coastal town in the Western Cape province of South Africa situated north of Cape Town. It is part of the Cederberg Municipality. The coast town has been proclaimed 'the Diamond of the West Coast' because of its white beaches, wildlife and lobsters. Although previously a primarily a fishing town, it has been converted to potato processing and has become a significant tourist attraction on the West Coast due to its moderate all-year climate. R27 (South Africa)
The R27 is a provincial route in South Africa that consists of two disjoint segments. The first segment, also known as the West Coast Highway, connects Cape Town with Velddrif along the West Coast. The second runs from Vredendal via Vanrhynsdorp, Calvinia, Brandvlei and Kenhardt to Keimoes on the N14 near Upington. The connection between Velddrif and Vredendal has never been built, although it can be driven on various gravel roads. Originally the R27 designation continued beyond Upington all the way to Pretoria, but this section became part of the N14 and various other roads. In Cape Town, the highway connects with Table Bay Boulevard ( N1) near the Table Bay Harbor and then runs north along the coast as a stretch that is known as Marine Drive through the coastal town of Milnerton. Calvinia
Calvinia is a regional town in the Northern Cape province of South Africa named after the French people, French religious reformer Jean Calvin. The town falls under the Hantam Local Municipality which forms part of the Namakwa District Municipality. The Calvinia district is part of the Great Karoo region of South Africa. The town is just south of the Hantam mountains on the banks of the Oorlogskloof (meaning "War Ravine") River. Nieuwoudtville
Nieuwoudtville is a town in Namakwa District Municipality in the Northern Cape province of South Africa. The town lies on the Bokkeveld Group, Bokkeveld Escarpment, and was established in 1897. The Nieuwoudtville Falls on the Doring River are located a few kilometres north of the town. Nieuwoudtville is in the Succulent Karoo biome, which has less than 200 mm rainfall in winter and is even more arid in summer. However the region about this community is an oasis in the biome, with the Doring River falling off the escarpment nearby. Clanwilliam is a town in the Olifants River valley in the Western Cape, South Africa, about north of Cape Town. It is located in, and the seat of, the Cederberg Local Municipality. Clanwilliam had a population of 7,674. Geography John Cradock, the Governor of the Cape Colony (1811–1814), named the town after his father-in-law, The 1st Earl of Clanwilliam, an Anglo-Irish nobleman. The R365 is a Regional Route in South Africa that connects Piketberg and Lamberts Bay. Its north-western terminus is at the R364 in Lamberts Bay. From there it heads south then east for 29 kilometres to reach Leipoldtville. It continues for a further 57 kilometres in a south-easterly to south-south-easterly direction before crossing the Kruismans River and meeting the R366 at a T-junction from the south. Here, turning right, the westerly route is signed as the R366 to Elands Bay. The R365 turns left here, continuing east before veering south. After 13 kilometres, a turnoff to the left is given to Eendekuil. Continuing south, it ends at a four-way junction with the R44 at Piketberg. Graafwater
Graafwater is a town in the Sandveld in the Western Cape province of South Africa situated 300 km from Cape Town, about halfway between Clanwilliam and Lamberts Bay. Graafwater is the Afrikaans term for "digging for water" referring to the Afrikaans farming culture found in South Africa at the time of establishment. It is located in the Cederberg Municipality. Graafwater is often divided into Graafwater North and Graafwater South. After the railway junction between Cape Town and Bitterfontein was built in 1910, the town Graafwater was established. The Cederberg mountains are located near Clanwilliam, Western Cape, Clanwilliam, approximately 300 km north of Cape Town, South Africa at about . Pakhuis Pass
Pakhuis Pass is a mountain pass on the R364 (South Africa), R364 in the northern Cederberg in South Africa. The pass connects Clanwilliam, Western Cape, Clanwilliam to Calvinia. A turnoff from the pass heads southeast to the Biedouw Valley and Wupperthal. The pass is 25 km long, reaches an altitude of 905 m at a gradient of 1:9. History The pass was built between 1875 and 1877 by Thomas Charles John Bain, Thomas Bain. The pass was improved for the first time in the 1960s and was tarred in 2009. In December 1946, a Junkers Ju 86 aircraft (flight SAAF 647) of the South African Air Force crashed into the 1 077 Pakhuis Peak in misty weather, killing everyone on board.
