Quimby is an alternative rock band popular on the Hungarian music scene. Enjoying large crowds across the nation, they have had successes at music festivals such as the Sziget Festival. Together for over 25 years, the band has a large collection of studio albums and one live CD/DVD combo to their credit. Band history Roots The band originated in the industrial town of Dunaújváros under the name 'Október', playing covers. By the end of high school, the band dispersed. The Kiss brothers, Tibor and Endre, got another group together in 1991, and renamed it 'Quimby'. 1991 to 1995: Saloon start - ''Jerrycan Dance'' In 1992 the band's first cassette entitled ''Up Side Down'' was released, featuring English-language tunes such as "Sea," "Stink," "I Give You My Shoes," "Up Side Down," "Never Get By," and "Policeman". ''Quimby the Mouse'' was created by Chris Ware while he attended the University of Texas at Austin from 1990 to 1991 (some of the strip was written from 1992 to 1993) The strip originally appeared in the student paper, ''The Daily Texan''. The strip follows that of a seemingly depressed cartoon mouse, modeled after Felix the Cat Felix the Cat is a cartoon character created in 1919 by Pat Sullivan and Otto Messmer during the silent film era. An anthropomorphic black cat with white eyes, a black body, and a giant grin, he was one of the most recognized cartoon characte ... and Mickey Mouse. Quimby constantly questions himself and wonders where he fits in. Southwestern College is a private graduate institution in Santa Fe, New Mexico that specializes in counseling and art therapy. It is the only college or university in the state of New Mexico to offer a Master's Degree in Art Therapy. History Southwestern College traces its roots to the Quimby Metaphysical Library, a library which has a large collection of religious and metaphysical books, and manuscripts of American transcendentalist and the Father of the New Thought Movement, Phineas Parkhurst Quimby. The library was founded by Neva Dell Hunter in 1945 in Alamogordo, New Mexico. The library was eventually known as Quimby Memorial Library. The school's vision, mission, philosophy, and programs are also influenced by Rudolf Steiner, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Alice Bailey, perennial wisdom traditions, and Hindu scriptures.
