Quake (soundtrack)
''Quake'' is the soundtrack album to the 1996 id Software video game of the same name, composed by Trent Reznor and his industrial rock band Nine Inch Nails. It was released on June 22, 1996. Originally pressed on the same disc as the game, ''Quake'' was otherwise commercially unavailable until its release on vinyl in September 2020. Reznor also provided sound effects for the game. Recording and release The collaboration between Nine Inch Nails and id Software occurred strictly due to a mutual admiration for each other's work; Reznor provided his services to ''Quake'' completely free of charge. A vinyl LP edition of the soundtrack was released in 2020. Composition and content Aside from the first relatively driving track, ''Quake'' is a predominantly ambient soundtrack, and was Reznor's first experimentation with the genre. Nine Inch Nails
Nine Inch Nails, commonly abbreviated as NIN (stylized as NIИ), is an American industrial rock band formed in Cleveland, Ohio in 1988. Its members are the singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Trent Reznor and his frequent collaborator, Atticus Ross. Reznor was previously the only permanent member of the band until Ross became an official member in 2016. The band's debut album, ''Pretty Hate Machine'' (1989), was released via TVT Records. After disagreements with TVT in regard to how the album would be promoted, the band signed with Interscope Records and released the EP Broken (Nine Inch Nails EP), ''Broken'' (1992). John Romero
Alfonso John Romero (born October 28, 1967) is an American video game developer. He co-founded id Software and designed their early games, including ''Wolfenstein 3D'' (1992), ''Doom (1993 video game), Doom'' (1993), ''Doom II'' (1994), ''Hexen: Beyond Heretic, Hexen'' (1995) and ''Quake (video game), Quake'' (1996). His designs and development tools, along with programming techniques developed by the id programmer John Carmack, popularized the first-person shooter (FPS) genre. Chris Vrenna (born February 23, 1967) is an American musician, producer, engineer, remixer, programmer, and founder of the electronic band Tweaker. Robin Finck
Robert John "Robin" Finck (born November 7, 1971) is an American guitarist. Finck is the longest-serving touring musician for Nine Inch Nails, performing with the band from 1994 to 2000, and returning in 2008. With Nine Inch Nails, Finck contributed studio performances on ''The Slip (album), The Slip'' (2008). Finck also was an official member of Guns N' Roses from 1997 through 2008.
