Purana Mandir
''Purana Mandir'' ( ''The Old Temple'') is a 1984 Indian Hindi-language horror film directed by the Ramsay brothers and produced by Kanta Ramsay. The soundtrack was composed by Ajit Singh. Typical of Ramsay's other works, the film chronicles the story of a demonic magician Samri who after a violent standoff, curses a feudal landlord that every female member of the latter's family would die at childbirth. Plot The film is set 200 years ago, with the royal procession of Raja Harimaansingh of the sultanate of Bijapur, stranded near the ''Kali Pahari'' (the Black Mountain). The Raja is concerned because his daughter Princess Rupali has disappeared near the lair of the devil-worshipper Samri. The princess wanders into the ruins of an old fortress and is promptly captured by Samri. He attacks by mesmerising her, then sucking out her life-force which turn her eyes white. Tulsi Ramsay
Tulsi Ramsay (29 July 1944 – 13 December 2018) was an Indian film director. He was the son of F. U. Ramsay and was one of the famous Seven Ramsay Brothers. The other six are Kumar Ramsay, Shyam Ramsay, Keshu Ramsay, Arjun Ramsay, Gangu Ramsay and Kiran Ramsay. Tulsi Ramsay directed several movies in the Horror genre during the 80's and 90's. Movies such as Hotel, Purana Mandir, Tahkhana, Veerana, Bandh Darwaza have acquired a cult following. He has also directed the ''Zee Horror Show'' TV series in 1993. The memories of most of the episodes of this TV series are still afresh in the hearts of horror enthusiasts in India. He ran a production company, Tulsi Ramsay Production located at Andheri in Mumbai. Ramsay died on 14 December, 2018 in a city hospital in Mumbai after complaining of chest pains. Jagdeep
Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed Jaffrey (29 March 1939 – 8 July 2020), better known by his stage name Jagdeep, was an Indian actor and comedian who appeared in more than 400 films. He played Soorma Bhopali in ''Sholay'' (1975), Machchar in '' Purana Mandir'' (1983), Salman Khan's dad in '' Andaz Apna Apna'' (1994) and directed the movie ''Soorma Bhopali'', with his character as the protagonist. Jagdeep started his film career as a child artist extra in B. R. Chopra's '' Afsana'', then went on to do films as a child artist in films like ''Ab Dilli Door Nahin'', K. A. Abbas's '' Munna'', Guru Dutt's ''Aar Paar'', Bimal Roy's '' Do Bigha Zamin'' and AVM's ''Hum Panchhi Ek Daal Ke''. ''Sharaabi'' ( en, Drunkard, italic=yes) is a 1984 Indian Hindi comedy drama film produced and directed by Prakash Mehra. This was Mehra's sixth film with Amitabh Bachchan. Mahendra Kapoor
Mahendra Kapoor (9 January 1934 – 27 September 2008) was an Indian playback singer. In a long career spanning decades, his repertoire included popular songs such as ''Chalo ekbaar phir se Ajnabi ban jayen hum dono'' ( Gumrah) and ''Neele Gagan ke tale'' ( Hamraaz). His name however became most closely associated with patriotic songs including Mere Desh Ki Dharti in Manoj Kumar's film Upkaar. Alka Nupur is a former Indian actress who was best known for her contributions to Hindi cinema throughout the 1980s. She appeared in many films throughout her career, including ''Laawaris'' (1981), ''Brij Bhoomi'' (1982), '' John Jani Janardhan'' (1984), and '' Mohabbat Ke Dushman'' (1988). Dheeraj Kumar (born 1 October 1944) is an Indian actor, television producer and director. He started Creative Eye Limited, a television production house in 1986. He has acted in both Bollywood and Punjabi films, including '' Sargam'' (1979), '' Roti Kapada Aur Makaan'' (1974) and '' Beharoopia'' (1971). Career In 1965, Kumar was one of the finalists in a talent show organized by the United Producers and ''Filmfare''. The other finalists included Subhash Ghai and Rajesh Khanna, Rajesh Khanna was the eventual winner.
