Pukhan River
The Bukhan River () is a tributary of the Han River that flows through both North and South Korea. It traverses Kangwon province in North Korea and Gangwon and Gyeonggi provinces in South Korea. The Bukhan River's headwaters lie in North Korea near Geumgangsan; this early portion of the river is often called the ''Geumgangcheon'', or "Geumgang Stream." It crosses the Korean Demilitarized Zone and enters Hwacheon County, flowing south through Chuncheon and then west through Gapyeong. Gapyeong
Gapyeong County is a county in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. It was the scene of the Battle of Kapyong, a major battle of the Korean War. Administrative Region and Language Gapyeong County has one eup and five myeon, and its population is 62,448 with 29,212 households based on resident registration at the end of December 2016, with an area of 843.6 km2. About 31.6 percent of the population lives in Gapyeong-eup, while 23.1 percent live in Cheongpyeong-myeon. Tourism Gapyeong is known for its natural environment, and borders the mountainous province of Gangwon on the east. The north branch of the Han River flows through the area. Several reservoirs and resorts are located in the county. The Namiseom resort island, while not strictly located in the county, is situated very close south of Gapyeong. Namhan River
Namhan River (Namhan-gang, South Han River) is a major river of South Korea, the 2nd-longest. It is a tributary of the Han River. It is famous for clean and clear water, especially in its upper reaches and tributaries, and serves as a source of water for Seoul. A popular bike path follows the river. Several sections of it are used for public recreation, including rafting; some of these sections have their own traditional names, such as the "Dong-gang" or Dong River stretch, popular for natural beauty. Some part of this river was found to be contaminated by bis-(2-ethylhexyl)-phthalate (DEHP) with 50 ppb. Chuncheon
Chuncheon (; ; formerly romanized as Chunchŏn; literally ''spring river'') is the capital of Gangwon Province in South Korea. The city lies in the north of the county, located in a basin formed by the Soyang River and Han River. There are some large lakes around the city, most notably Soyang Lake and Uiam Lake (or Uiam Dam). The area is renowned for its small river islands, such as Sangjungdo, Ha-Jungdo, Bungeodo, and Wido. Hwacheon County (''Hwacheon-gun'') is a Administrative divisions of South Korea, county in Gangwon-do (South Korea), Gangwon Province, South Korea. The northern border is, in some places, within nine kilometres of the Korean Demilitarized Zone. Korean Demilitarized Zone
The Korean Demilitarized Zone ( Korean: ; Hanbando Bimujang Jidae) is a strip of land running across the Korean Peninsula near the 38th parallel north. The demilitarized zone (DMZ) is a border barrier that divides the peninsula roughly in half. It was established to serve as a buffer zone between the countries of North Korea and South Korea under the provisions of the Korean Armistice Agreement in 1953, an agreement between North Korea, China, and the United Nations Command. Geumgangsan
Mount Kumgang () or the Kumgang Mountains is a mountain massif, with a summit, peak, in Kangwon-do (North Korea), Kangwon-do, North Korea.
