Preston School Of Industry (band)
Preston School of Industry was an American indie rock band formed by Scott Kannberg (a.k.a. Spiral Stairs) in 1999, following the dissolution of his previous band, Pavement (band), Pavement. Its name is taken from the well known US reform school of the same name, Preston School of Industry in Ione, California. The band's earliest studio release was a cover of Phish's "Axilla II" for the charity tribute album ''Sharin' in the Groove''. In 2001, Preston School of Industry released ''All This Sounds Gas''. The band released its second album, ''Monsoon (Preston School of Industry album), Monsoon'', in 2004, with studio contributions from members of The Minus 5 and Wilco. Preston School of Industry went inactive after their September 2004 Australian tour, though Kannberg revealed in late 2006 he had been slowly working on a record: "Don't know when it's going to be released. Just taking my time, nothing special. I've got the songs, I just haven't figured out how I want to do it yet. ...

Indie Rock
Indie rock is a subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or " guitar pop rock". One of the primary scenes of the movement was Dunedin, where a cultural scene based around a convergence of noise pop and jangle became popular among the city's large student population. Independent labels such as Flying Nun began to promote the scene across New Zealand, inspiring key college rock bands in the United States such as Pavement, Pixies and R.E.M. Other notable scenes grew in Manchester and Hamburg, with many others thriving thereafter. In the 1980s, the use of the term "indie" (or "indie pop") started to shift from its reference to recording companies to describe the style of music produced on punk and post-punk labels.S. Sharin' In The Groove
''Sharin' in the Groove: Celebrating the Music of Phish'' is an all-star charity Phish tribute album released on July 24, 2001. It features 23 acts covering 20 Phish songs, all on a volunteer basis, to fund music education for children under the auspices of the Mockingbird Foundation. Over 25,000 copies were sold in the first two weeks, making it one of the fastest selling tribute albums ever. Executive Producer Ellis Godard selected artists to be as diverse as possible in style, genre, and instrumentation, and arranged the tracks to resemble a Phish concert, with the more exploratory material in the second "set" (disc two). Also, in a twist on typical tribute albums, each artist represents an influence ''on'' Phish (such as a style they've mimicked, or an artist they've covered), whereas most tributes feature artists influenced ''by'' the band they are covering. In addition to the album, a series of bonus tracks was released exclusively online. Track listing Disc one #"Bounc ...

Preston School Of Industry
The Preston School of Industry, also known as Preston Castle, was a reform school located in Ione, California, in Amador County. It was proposed by, and ultimately named after, state senator Edward Myers Preston. The cornerstone was laid in December 1890, and the institution was opened in June 1894 when seven wards (minors under the guardianship of the state, but not necessarily juvenile offenders), were transferred there from San Quentin State Prison. It is considered one of the oldest and best-known reform schools in the United States. The original building, known colloquially as "Preston Castle" (or simply "The Castle"), is the most significant example of Romanesque Revival architecture in the Mother Lode. This building was vacated in 1960, shortly after new buildings had been constructed to replace it, and has since been named a California Historical Landmark (#867), and listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NPS-75000422). In 1982, the building was partly ...
