Posthumous (film)
''Posthumous'' is a 2014 American-German film directed by Lulu Wang and starring Brit Marling and Jack Huston. It is Wang's directorial debut. Plot Frustrated with his lack of success, artist Liam Price (Jack Huston) destroys his work in front of a Berlin gallery. However, when he passes out drunk, a homeless man steals his belongings. The man is found dead with Liam's drawings and everyone believes that he is Liam and has killed himself. When Liam realizes his art is worth more after his death, he devises an elaborate plan to make money off of his supposed demise. Meanwhile, an American journalist (Brit Marling) decides to write a story on Liam's life, which puts his ruse in jeopardy. Lulu Wang (filmmaker)
Lulu Wang (; born February 25, 1983) is a Chinese-born American filmmaker. She is best known for writing and directing the comedy-drama films '' Posthumous'' (2014) and '' The Farewell'' (2019). For the latter, she received the Independent Spirit Award for Best Film and the film was named one of the top ten films of 2019 by the American Film Institute. Wang has also written, produced, and directed several short films, documentaries, and music videos. Early life and education Wang was born in Beijing. Her father Haiyan Wang was a Chinese diplomat to the USSR and her mother Jian Yu is a former cultural critic and editor at the Beijing ''Literary Gazette.'' She has a younger brother, Anthony. Fabian Stumm (born in 1981) is a German actor and director who studied at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York City. He played a leading role in the 2013 mystery thriller ''Bela Kiss: Prologue'' by Lucien Förstner, and appeared in the award-winning Second World War drama ''Lore'' by Australian director Cate Shortland. His other credits include '' Posthumous'' with Brit Marling and Jack Huston; ''56'', which was nominated for the prestigious Max Ophüls Award; and the David Foster Wallace adaptation ''Neon Aura''.
