The Portugal Masters was a European Tour men's professional golf tournament which was played for the first time in October 2007. It had a prize fund is US$2 million, making it one of the richest golf tournaments in Portugal. It was jointly staged by the European Tour and the Portuguese Tourist Board (ITP). Vilamoura
Vilamoura is a coastal resort in the Loulé municipality in Algarve, Portugal. It is one of the three corners of Algarve's Golden Triangle. Vilamoura comprises one of the largest single tourist complexes in Europe and with about 2,000 hectares of land. The nearest airport is in Faro. The area previously hosted the annual Almond Blossom Cross Country competition between 1996 and 2003, and the same course was selected as the venue for the 2000 IAAF World Cross Country Championships. History The resort developed around a small harbour, flanked by sandy beaches and close to the Roman ruins of Cerro da Vila. In Roman times this location was important in producing a fish paste known as "garum". The ruins also include the baths in which the mariners used to bathe. 2019 European Tour
The 2019 European Tour was the 48th season of golf tournaments since the European Tour officially began in 1972 and the 11th edition of the Race to Dubai. The Race to Dubai was won by Spain's Jon Rahm, who was also named Golfer of the Year. Scotland's Robert MacIntyre was the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year. Changes for 2019 Rule changes From January 1, 2019 onwards, tournaments followed the new rules released by the USGA and The R&A which were designed to simplify the rule book and speed up the pace of play. The 2015 European Tour is the seventh edition of the Race to Dubai and the 44th season of golf tournaments since the European Tour officially began in 1972. Andrew Michael Sullivan (born 19 May 1987) is an English professional golfer who currently plays on the European Tour. Amateur career Sullivan had a successful amateur career before turning professional. He won the individual title in the Tailhade Cup in Argentina in 2010, and won the 2011 New South Wales Medal in Australia. Sullivan's biggest win as an amateur came at the 2011 Scottish Amateur Stroke Play Championship. Pádraig Peter Harrington (born 31 August 1971) is an Irish professional golfer who plays on the European Tour, PGA Tour and the PGA Tour Champions. Marc Warren (born 1 April 1981) is a Scottish professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. He has won three European Tour victories in his career and finished 26th in the 2014 Race to Dubai, his strongest professional year. Lucas Herbert (born 5 December 1995) is an Australian professional golfer who plays on the European Tour and the PGA Tour. Tom Lewis (born 5 January 1991) is a professional golfer who plays on the European Tour and the PGA Tour. Amateur career In 2009, Lewis won the Boys Amateur Championship at Royal St George's.
