Political Parties In Jordan
This article lists political parties in Jordan. Jordan has 34 different political parties, but apart from the oppositional Islamic Action Front and neutral Jordanian National Youth Party, none of them play a real role because of lack of organization and clear political platforms. The role of parties is significantly limited by institutional factors as well. The king is vested with somewhat broader executive power than is usually the case for a constitutional monarch, making it difficult for a party to win control of the government solely at the ballot box. Additionally, the electoral system is significantly malapportioned in favour of rural areas. There is no clear picture on the political parties in Jordan, but sources mention the following parties. Jordan
Jordan ( ar, الأردن; tr. ' ), officially the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan,; tr. ' is a country in Western Asia. It is situated at the crossroads of Asia, Africa, and Europe, within the Levant region, on the East Bank of the Jordan River. Jordan is bordered by Saudi Arabia to the south and east, Iraq to the northeast, Syria to the north, and the Palestinian West Bank, Israel, and the Dead Sea to the west. Jordanian Democratic People's Party
Jordanian Democratic People's Party ( ar, حزب الشعب الديمقراطي الأردني ''Hizb Al-Sha'ab Al-Dimuqrati Al-Urduni'', HASHD), is a communist party in Jordan. HASHD was formed in 1989, when the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine separated their branch in Jordan to become a separate party. HASHD publishes the weekly newspaper ''Al-Ahali''. Jordanian Communist Party
The Jordanian Communist Party (JCP; ar, الحزب الشیوعی الاردنی, ''al-Hizb al-Shuyu'i al-Urduni'') is a communist party in Jordan, founded in 1948. Its current general secretary is Dr. Munir Hamarana. It publishes ''al-Jamahir'' (, "The Masses"). History In June 1951, the Palestinian communists in the West Bank, then organized in the Palestinian National Liberation League, joined JCP. During the years to come the main stronghold of the party was in the West Bank, and the party leadership was predominantly Palestinian. Prior to the merger into JCP, the Palestinian communists had opposed the annexation of the West Bank by Jordan.
